This week has flown by; we have been busy both indoors and outdoors.
Numeracy
The focus has been on percentages and making the links with fractions and decimals. We have been looking at how to calculate a percentage of a value by using what we know about how to find a fraction of a quantity.
Literacy/I.D.L
We started a new Primary Engineer project this week, called Statwars, which is about using data to study climate change. Though, to start us off we were discussing the issues around climate change, researching some of the impacts of climate change and completing a reading comprehension task to form a good level of background knowledge to build on.
Working Outdoors
Training for the Sports Championships has continued with sprinting and throwing practise. The heats and finals will be held on return from Inverclyde.
Mrs Ferguson led an interesting outdoor learning session, allowing the class to explore and discover the different living things in our playground. Pupils made log books and recorded their findings from a scavenger hunt: worms, centipedes and slaters were some of the mini beasts that were found. This work will contribute towards the John Muir Award which we have been working towards throughout the year.
Enjoy the long weekend!
