It’s been a busy first full week back in 2022.  We have been discussing and making New Year Resolutions and setting learning targets for Term 3.

The main focus has been on the Primary Engineer competition ‘If You Were an Engineer, What Would You Do?’  Firstly, we used visualisation to help us draw a picture of an engineer. Next, we looked at the different types of engineering jobs that exist and had a think about what engineering jobs will be like in the future.  Our next task was to critique the design of a chosen everyday object to help us focus on what works well and how a design could be improved.  Next week, we are going to put our design thinking caps on and come up with an idea for a new invention to help solve a problem.

On Tuesday we started our class novel ‘The Last Wolf’ by Michael Morpurgo as our Literacy focus.  The story is set in the Highlands of Scotland in the 1700s.  We are enjoying finding out about the main character, Robbie McLeod.

We participated in our first indoor PE session on Thursday.  We are focusing on indoor hockey and we learned the correct grip and how to perform a push pass.  Also on Thursday we had a recap of the songs and dances we have been learning for our Aladdin show.  We were a bit rusty, but got there in the end!
