We are getting super excited for Christmas. The class tree is up, there is chocolate in the advent calendar and we have been following the adventures of Palmer and Santa on Santa’s South Pole journey. This has also helped to remind us of things we can do to help our planet.
Our new phonemes for this week are e – e and au. Keep practising these and your tricky words. They are in your diary and there are lots of ways to practise before Friday’s spelling test.
Last week we learned about St Andrew and how he became Scotland’s patron saint. We also learned about the Scottish flag.
We finished our class book The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark and it earned a round of applause in the last chapter when Plop discovered he really was a night owl. We learned lots of interesting facts about barn owls and made our own factfiles.
We also tried sharing what we knew and had learned about COP26 with a talk partner. Lots of information and views and opinions were discussed. P3 really learned a lot about climate change, greenhouse gases and carbon footprints.
This week we will be using a new strategy in maths to do subtraction. We are using grids and partitioning the calculation into tens and units to help us subtract.
Here are some things that we learned last week.
