Hello everyone, I hope you all had a lovely weekend and that all your Elves are behaving. Last week  it was exciting opening our advent calendars, putting up the decorations and exploring things we like to do in winter. For health and wellbeing we enjoyed the story, ‘Zog and the flying doctor’ by Julia Donaldson and will examine the use and safekeeping of medicines. Our role play this week will be a doctor’s surgery to support our study of medicines.

Language this week:

Nemo Group

common words – very, took, fast, there

digraph – aw like crawl, hawk

Dory Group – There will be a new word list with reading books also to learn.

common words – if, for, on

phonemes f and o

Please try to play some games with these words and maybe do a scavenger hunt to find items with these sounds. I will add activities to support this week’s work on Education City.

Thanks for your help with all language work, it really supports the work that we do in class.

Maths

We are continuing to explore place value, number patterns and sequences. The children last week were working very hard to double and half numbers.

Octopus Group – continue to work on numbers to 20

Starfish Group – continue to work on numbers to 100

Please have fun counting in 2s, 5s and 10s anytime you get the opportunity, climbing the stairs is always a good place to do this.

Can you spot numbers in your street? What do you notice about the patterns of house numbers on either side of the street?

Have fun this week.

Mrs Carey
