We have had an action packed week in P7J. This week we welcomed Miss Little to our class, she will be with us for the next four weeks.
We also had visitors from the Creative Minds team, Joe and Kate. They took us on the story journey of The Selkie Bride: we looked at maps of Scotland and the islands, listened and responded to some theme music and created detailed observational drawings of shells, drift wood and rocks found on the beach. Everyone found this to be an enjoyable and calming afternoon.
Lots of active learning was taking place for numeracy with the focus on adding and subtracting decimal fractions. We’re all becoming much more confident and accurate when handling decimal numbers.
Cop26 has been a main area for discussion and we have all taken part in activities to help identify more sustainable ways of living. Ask us about small changes we can all make at home to help the environment!
Plastic pollution was the chosen theme for all groups when challenged to create a short film using iMovie. Each group was tasked with including three different types of camera shot to produce an attention grabbing film. Lots of fun was had and I must thank all the pupils for teaching me lots more about how to use iMovie!
Next week, we look forward to a visit from Lorna Sloan who will be helping us work towards the John Muir Award. We will also be learning about Remembrance Day amongst many other things.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Johnstone
