Child Disability Payment from 22nd November 2021 in Scotland
Scotland’s Child Disability Payment opens for new applications across Scotland from 22 November 2021 following a pilot launched in July in other areas of Scotland.
This is the first of the application based disability benefits to be introduced by the Scottish Government and replaces the UK Government’s Disability Living Allowance for children.
Any new claims from 22/11/21 will be for Child Disability Payment for children with a Scottish postcode.
Existing claims of Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for children aged 15-17yrs will gradually be transferred over to Child Disability Payment by spring 2022. The remainder of claims are expected to be transferred by spring 2023.
Parents/Carers will be contacted at the time when this process will be carried out for their child. You will not need to re-apply at this time and payments will remain the same during transfer. Your payments will be from Social Security Scotland instead of the Department for Work and Pensions.
