Primary 7J have been challenged to design a Top Trumps card to promote and celebrate actions that we can take to become more environmentally friendly.
Pupils have been given a consent form to allow for entry to the competition. Please return the completed forms by Tuesday 28th September.
In preparation for completing their game-card designs, each pupil has been asked to carry out some research at home to find an interesting fact relating to their chosen environmentally friendly action and to plan a drawing to go with it.
The themes for our age group are: shopping, energy and travel/transport. Through discussion, we made a list of possible actions to feature on our cards, such as:
- turn radiators down and close doors to keep heat in;
- open curtains and blinds, switch lights off;
- turn electrical items off at the plug when not in use;
- re-use shopping bags;
- pick items that have recyclable packaging;
- upcycle unwanted or old furniture;
- make gifts instead of buying them;
- donate unwanted items to charity;
- shop in second-hand shops;
- drive electric cars;
- holiday locally: staycation instead of vacation;
- walk or cycle to school;
- take the train or bus when going on longer journeys.
Time will be given in class on Tuesday to complete the final entry designs.
