Numeracy

Check out Number rock on Youtube

If you are looking for a fun way to help your child at home with maths, the YouTube channel “Numberock” is a fantastic resource.
The channel focuses on maths songs which are fun and engaging and more suitable for P4-7. They cover a range of maths topics from times tables to measure. To find it, just go onto youtube and type in “Numberock” and the channel should come up.

Literacy

P1-P7 Phonics activities:

Throughout the school, we approach spelling by investigating phonemes (or sounds) and this approach is used from P1-7 as well as looking at spelling rules and patterns.

BBC Bitesize have a list of short video clips that would allow pupils to hear the sound and have short exercises after listening. The videos would be most appropriate for P2-4. To access them, copy and paste the link below or google search “BBC Bitesize ks1 phonics”.

To support your child at home, you could help them learn their sounds by singing the Jolly Phonics songs with them. Go to the songs via this link or search ‘Jolly phonics t’ (or any other letter they are learning) through youtube.

Daily Writing

Each day watch Newsround each day and write a short piece of writing about it:

Remember to bring it to school when you return.

French

French is being taught from P1 through to P7 with a focus on listening and talking in the target language. In class, phrases and vocabulary are introduced and then applied to a variety of activities, whether it be working in pairs having short conversations, playing games or completing translation activities. A useful website that can help practice pronunciation is BBC Bitesize KS2 French which is aimed at pupils in P5-7. Follow the link below or google search “BBC Bitesize KS2 French” to access it.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/subjects/z39d7ty

The website has a game called “Dash and Blink: Forgotten French” which is super for revising vocabulary. The main section that I think will be helpful is the section near the bottom called “Topic”. If you click on a topic, it takes you to a new page where you can click to hear French people pronounce the vocabulary associated with that topic.

I hope some of you will find this helpful, bonne chance!

Health and Wellbeing

GoNoodle provides fun, free movement and mindfulness videos with a focus on wellness and increasing socio-emotional health for kids age 5-12. The videos are super interactive and fun for kids to do along with parents. Both web and app versions are available.
