This week in P5S, we have been learning about the 2, 4 and 8 times tables. We did lots of different activities to help us to remember these multiplication facts including:
- the dice game;
- the spinner game;
- building a number line to 100;
- using tens and units apparatus to build the answers to the tables;
- using a 100 square with counters.
- We enjoyed the Number Line because it was easier to count up to the next answer in the times tables;
- The Spinner Game was a favourite because it was challenging;
- The Dice Game was a favourite because it gave us some ‘tricky sums’;
- The Tens and Units activity was a favourite because we liked to learn the 8x table using it.
In class our topic is France. This week, we have been learning about French Schools. There are many differences which we noticed including:
- the children and teachers share the same toilet block;
- the children have fancy handwriting;
- all of their jotters have squared paper pages and have a plastic cover;
- French children do not wear school uniforms;
- French children have a lot of homework;
- at lunch time, they pass the food around to each other, rather than being served by Dinner Ladies.
