Wednesday Check In

I can’t believe we are at the last Wednesday check in before the summer holidays!

This week I have been in school  getting lots of things ready in my new classroom for next year. It feels sad being in school without you all there and I miss all the buzz and fun that we all have together in Fenwick Primary.

I hope you all got a chance to see the Virtual Prize Giving Ceremony.

You can view this here.

Well done to every single one of you in Primary 3/4  for achieving the 125 Community Cup for all of your achievements and community spirit in lockdown ! It really has been a difficult time and I am proud of you all!

Well done to Ellis for achieving  the Primary 3 Endeavour Award and to Susan for achieving the Primary 4 Endeavour Award.

I have been  doing some work in my garden last week  and after power washing my decking I oiled it all and I am really pleased with the finished results.  Unfortunately it has rained every day since I have done that , but on Tuesday evening I managed a quick cup of tea before the rain started again!

I have been challenging myself to walk 20,000 steps each day so I have been walking early in the morning and late in the evening. Tonight when I was out for a walk with Olive a young fox sat and watched us from the garden. He looked very nosy and wanted to play with Olive. She was not interested and just wanted to chase her ball.

Mr Ross and I  collected lots of tree stumps from Greenbank Gardens beside where we live. We spoke to the gardener who had been chopping lots of trees down in the woods and he said we could take as many as we could carry. We will chop them up for our wood burner in the winter. It was heavy work, Olive helped us by sniffing them a lot! Friday will be the last day for our lovely Miss Jaffrey. She is off to University in August to train to be a primary teacher. We wish her lots of luck. I have sent her a wee card and a present from all of us in the class. I hope she shares a little picture of it with you when it arrives!

I hope you all have a lovely week in the sunshine and remember to keep playing Sumdog whenever you can !

I will post our final Friday feedback and share the Sumdog results with you all then.

Wednesday Check In

Good morning boys and girls,

Only one more week of school before the start of the summer holidays. The staff have all been busy this week getting things organised for our last week of term. Keep your eye on our blog for more news!

I have been in school this week getting things organised for our return in August. It felt very strange at first being in the building but it felt good to be back in our lovely wee school! So today I will have a look at my emails and your blogs to see what you have been doing while I have been in Fenwick Primary.

At home I have enjoyed meeting up with some of my friends for a cup of tea in their garden and a blether. My dad came and had a BBQ with us in our back garden and it was lovely to spend time with him.   I am still doing lots of walking , last night the bats were swooping around our heads as we were walking past the woods behind our house. There have been some beautiful sunsets t his week.

Don’t forget that the East Ayrshire Sumdog Contest starts this Friday! Good luck Primary 3/4!

Keep sending me your messages and keep me up to date with all the things you have been doing.

Take care

Mrs Ross

Wednesday Check In

Good morning boys and girls,

I hope you are all safe and well. It has been so long since we were all together in school and I still miss you all very much.  It is very important to be looking after your health and well being just now and just spend time on  home learning whenever you can.

I am getting more used to working from home and seeing and chatting to  the Fenwick staff on our virtual meetings. I hope you enjoy some of the activities that I plan for you each week. It really is lovely when I see all the things you have been doing.

WE are still  going for lots of big long walks around our local area, sometimes we all go together. We talk about all the things we are looking forward to doing when things get back to a bit more normal. The boys  have all agreed that they cant wait to go and get their hair cut (not by me!) .

Euan has signed for a new football team and has lots of virtual training sessions to complete and I have been joining in with his 10 minute HIIT sessions each day. I am getting better  but it is hard to keep up with Euan! I have a very red face when I’m finished!

Fraser and Murray have been enjoying going out on their bikes together and have cycled to the windfarm twice this week.

Eilidh had a virtual Guide Camp this weekend and I had great fun helping her with lots of the activities. I used to love going on guide camp when I was younger and I was a Brown Owl for lots of years so it reminded me of all the songs I used to sing and games we played. She has achieved her bronze Guide a ward and is working towards her silver award now.

I saw the other  Mrs Ross this week too and she said to say hello to you all! She misses visiting us and helping out on trips and in class.

I hope you have all had a good week so far. I will post feedback on all the work that you send me and I will put  the Sumdog Class Contest on the blog on Friday.

Keep smiling and having fun at home!

Wednesday Check In

Good morning boys and girls,

What a lovely few days of sunshine we have all had. It always makes me feel better when the sun is shining.

One of your tasks this week was to find out about what your heart does and about your blood. On Wednesday  afternoon last week I went to give blood in Glasgow. I hope it helps someone who might need it.

We have been having lots of BBQs and spending time together in the garden. We got a new paddling pool for the garden and there was a lot of fun splashing and keeping cool on the very hot days.

My children have been very excited that they can now see their friends one at a time outside. Fraser went for a cycle with his friend Zach, Murray played tennis with his friend at the local tennis club where he is a member, Eilidh went to the park with her best friend Abigail and Euan visited his friend’s garden. We also visited my brother’s garden to celebrate his birthday. We sat outside together and it felt lovely to see him in the flesh and not over the computer screen.

I am looking forward to seeing all your updates this week.

Wednesday Check In

Good morning Primary 3/4,

thank you to everyone who has replied to my check in email, it has been lovely to hear from you.

I enjoyed my holiday Monday and spent time with my family at home. We even had a carry out meal delivered as a treat. It was delicious!

I received a wee random act of kindness gift through my letterbox this week from one of the lovely teachers at Fenwick Primary. It put a big smile on my face and made me feel loved.  #bekind.

Eilidh has been spending her weekend baking. She has now perfected banana loaf and makes one every week for her grandpa. Do you remember we made banana loaf in class together?

Today is my big brother’s 50th birthday (and I know that he shares his birthday with 2 boys in our class!) We are disappointed that we can’t celebrate with all our family together. I have ordered a special afternoon tea to be delivered to him with sandwiches and cakes. We are going to have a virtual family party tonight to celebrate with him.

I have been trying hard to keep fit and healthy during lockdown and I have a new fitbit that is helping me to get outside and  do lots of steps every day. I have been trying to eat lots of healthy, colourful food during the day too. This is making me feel much happier and in a positive mood .

Stay safe and healthy everyone and let me know what you have been doing.

Wednesday Update

Good morning Primary 3/4

Another busy week and I am really enjoying seeing all your Health Week activities. Lots of you are getting ready for our virtual sports day on Friday.

Exciting news boys and girls ! Primary 3/4  are top of the Sumdog leader board at the moment!  Well done everyone , what a team! Keep on playing and see if we can stay there until Thursday !

My biggest boy, Euan,  started a new summer job this week (since he has now left school).  He is stocking the fruit and vegetables at Morrisons . He is hoping to save lots of his money for when he starts university in September. I am looking forward to using his discount card for all my shopping. Maybe I should  give you a learning task to calculate how much money I will save each week with my shopping 😉

I have been missing spending time with my best friend, like many of you are. We have been friends  since we were 3 years old. I sent her a little card with a photo of us in it to let her know I miss her. I thought you might like to see the photo. They are taken 40  years apart! I wonder if you will  all still be friends in 40 years time.

I have been looking for lots of new activities for you for next week’s learning grid. Joshua asked me to let you all know that he has found a fabulous website that he thinks you might enjoy. This is the website, please ask a grown up to help you :

Adventure Academy

I have been writing lots of your reports and looking at all the hard work you have been doing this week. It makes me smile when I see  your photos  and E-portfolios.

Keep working hard and enjoy spending time with your families.

Take care

Mrs Ross

Wednesday Check In 6.5.20

Good morning Primary 3/4,

I am enjoying seeing your e-portfolios and reading your emails to me.  I have seen lots of your Thankful Thursday comments and they have put a smile on my face 🙂 . I was also very excited to have a FaceTime call with Mrs Conetta and see her beautiful new baby girl , Grace.

We have been out walking around our local area and  over our local golf course. They have allowed locals access as long as we stay away from the greens and the bunkers– remember Miss Jaffrey was teaching us  about these different golf course areas ? We have seen some beautiful sunsets too, dusk is my favourite part of the day.

Eilidh has been attending her Guides on Zoom. She found it a bit strange at first but she is getting more used to it now. They had a chocolate quiz this week which she was very good at!

Mr Ross and I  have a zoom dinner party with our friends who live in London every Friday night. We have enjoyed  this so much, and seeing them every week that we have decided to keep doing this even after lockdown has ended. Here is some of the delicious food that Mr Ross made last week.

We have all been playing this new game as a wee challenge . It is called Konpira Fune Fune.  . It is good fun  and makes your brain think fast ! Euan beat me tonight in our family challenge , can you work out what the rules are? Maybe you could give it a go with your family . Here is a video of us playing .

I hope you are all safe and well and finding time to play, rest and relax with your family.

Mrs Ross 🙂

Wednesday Check In 29.4.20

Hi Primary 3/4 ,

I hope you are all well and keeping busy. It feels like so long ago that we were all together in school.

I have been helping my children with their school work and last week I was working in Galston Primary School for the day with some of the boys and girls around East Ayrshire including some children from Fenwick Primary.

We have been having lots of fun challenges in our garden  while the sun was shining ☀

Euan has been painting his bedroom this week and I put up his new blind and I had to learn a new skill to do this … drilling ! We are very pleased with our hard work though. I will let you see next week the finished results!

I have also been learning some new hairdressing skills and I have given Euan, Fraser and Mr Ross a haircut ( Murray has not been brave enough yet). No photographs to show you though!

Each week I still have meetings with the teachers and we have planned some exciting activities for you all over the coming weeks ! Watch this space ! ( and Twitter)

Keep safe and well boys and girls. I can’t wait to see you all again because I am missing you! Remember you can post your updates on your e-portfolio or on our class blog in the comments.

Wednesday Check In 22nd April

Hi Primary 3/4 ,

I hope you are all well and  had some time to relax and enjoy the spring sunshine in the holidays.

I enjoyed time with my family.  We  had fun decorating eggs, eating lots of chocolate, gardening, having barbecues, zoom parties with our friends, bike rides and dog walks with Olive.

Did you see the Supermoon on the 7th April? It was huge and very bright in the sky. Eilidh and I went for a walk late in the evening to see it  and took some spooky photos.

I am enjoying looking at your blogs and reading about what you have been doing .  I have been checking Sumdog, Education City and Giglets to see what work you have been trying and some of you have managed to upload your work to your blog or you have emailed it to me or commented on our blog to let me see – well done. It is all very different though and  I am missing seeing you all and being together in school.

The staff  have been keeping in touch through WhatsApp and Zoom calls, we are getting better at Zooming together!  I have been looking for different activities that you will enjoy working on at home and that will challenge you and also consolidate all the things we have been learning in school.

Euan, Fraser, Eilidh and Murray have been working hard to complete all their High School work and we have been following our P3/4 class timetable : Mindful Mondays, Tricky Word Tuesdays, Work It Out Wednesdays, Thankful Thursdays and Fit for Fridays! They think it’s good fun!

Please let me know if you need help with anything.

Take care and be kind 🙂

Wednesday Check In

Good morning everyone, I hope you are all well and getting used to learning from home.

I have been  busy checking what games you have been enjoying in Education City and Sumdog and having a wee look at the books you have been reading on Giglets. The teachers have been meeting each other on  Zoom and keeping in touch to make plans for our classes.

I have been spending lots of time with my own family and helping them to stick to their timetable of school work and play. We have been on walks with Olive, joining Joe Wicks for some PE, bike rides around our local area, making pancakes and tidying up our garden.  We have played lots of family board games and cards and we have even been playing Kahoot! Eilidh and Murray love going for a late night walk just before it gets too dark.

Eilidh organised a party in our house on Saturday night and we all had to go to her bedroom for a scavenger hunt and to play games . We had lots of fun !

We have a rainbow in our window and we are phoning our neighbours to check in on them and delivering food and meals to my elderly dad. Today we are all going to write letters to our friends and family who live far away.

I am looking forward to seeing all the things you have been doing with your families.  Remember you can upload photos to your blog and write what you have been doing.

I am thinking about you all and missing you  and I can’t wait to see you all again soon! 🌈
