Primary 7 came to help us set up our e-portfolios. We have now been blogging each week with updates about what we have been learning and enjoying at school.

Spread a Little Reading Joy
Today we visited Primary 1 to share a Christmas story with them. Our kindness elves suggested we read to a buddy in primary 1 and we all really enjoyed this activity.
Cards of Kindness
Today we made cards to send to Hallhouse Care Home residents. We hope they bring a smile when primary 6 deliver them next week.
Trip to Culzean
We had a great day today visiting Culzean. We learned all about plastic and the effects it has on our environment. We litter picked along the beach and then learned how long it takes for different litter items to break down. We were amazed to learn that plastic never ever disappears completely.
Our next workshop was looking at natural litter and we learned what mini beasts are decomposers. We hunted for slaters, millipedes and slugs and collected them in our magnifying jars.
Thank you to our fantastic parent helpers who came along to help us on our trip.
Rory – I liked catching the decomposers in my magnifying jar.
William – I liked being on the bus and collecting litter on the beach.
Imogen – It was fun when we looked at the tree and there was lots of lichen on it.
James – I liked going in the cave that we found.
Calum B – It was great fun on the beastie hunt.
Active literacy
Today we went outside to assess how well we knew our phoneme of the week words. We took photos with the iPad to record our spelling lists. We loved doing this and have asked to test our spelling skills this way every week !
Great Fenwick Bake Off
Homework Challenge – research an apple recipe to bake for the Bake Off
We voted for our favourite class recipe and Callum and Rory’s “healthy apple muffins” won the class vote.
We all helped to peel, weigh, measure, grate, mix and bake or muffins ready for our Bake Off entry.
Famous for more than 5 Minutes
We studied DaVincis technical sketches for his various machines. We then drew our own detailed drawings for our inventions and then created a prototype using the K’Nex.
This Morning I Met a Whale p3/4 Assembly
We shared our learning with our parents and the rest of the school. Mrs Ross thought we were very confident and she was very proud of everyone in the class.
