Over the past few weeks P3/4 have been learning all about poetry. They have used examples from famous poets like Robert Burns and have adapted their work to create their own poems. I’m sure you’ll agree from some of the examples that these are fantastic.

P3/4 P.E. Time Challenge
P3/4 continued to link our learning of time into our P.E. lessons and became sports coaches for an afternoon.
We participated in many different challenges improving our speed, strength and stamina as well as becoming more confident recording and reading digital time.
Below we can see the pupils in teams with each team member having a very important role.
Roles included:
- Recording the time using stop watch
- Recording time as data on a piece of paper
- Participant completing the activity
P3/4 Exploring How We Use Time
P3/4 have been linking their knowledge of time to the wider world of work. We have been using different methods and devices including sand timers, stop watches and analogue timers to record time in minutes and seconds.
In class we participated in a series of interactive group activities where pupils would take turns to record how long it would take their partner to complete the activity. Pupils would then record their own individual times as data in a table format.
P3/4 Wider Achievements
In P3/4 we love to celebrate our wider achievements and share our own talents with the class and school.
Below some of our pupils have expressed themselves through their wonderful creations and some have been presenting themselves as a great role model in acknowledgment of World Thinking Day.
Well done to all the following pupils.
Wils has used his creativity and craftsmanship skills to create his own luxury hotel out of recycled materials.
Harriet has displayed skills of numeracy, creativity and STEM to create this amazing piece of art work using string and card.
Amelia has displayed acts of respect, and wears her Brownie uniform with pride to acknowledge that it is World Thinking Day.
P3/4 Health and Well-being
This week P3/4 had their last health and well-being session learning about our emotions and our strengths.
P3/4 Fraction Fun
P3/4 have been reinforcing their knowledge of fractions and getting creative by identifying how we can use our knowledge of fractions to help us in every day life.
We learned some knew vocabulary to help us better understand fractions.
The denominator is the number on the bottom of the fraction and it tells us the number of equal parts we have in total (in one whole).
The numerator is the number on the top of the fraction and it represents the number of equal parts we have out of the whole.
Our challenge was to use different materials to make everyday objects like a pizza and then divide these items into different equal parts to represent different fractions. Pupils would then explain how they achieved this remembering to use the term denominator and numerator.
P3/4 Internet Safety Day
Today P3/4 have been discussing the top tips to keep us safe on the internet and when using technology.
We decided to focus on how important it is to stay safe when playing online games and the strategies we can use to keep us safe whilst playing online games.
Below we went on an adventure with our new outer terrestrial to discuss the features of online games and help us understand how we can play safe. At the end of our discussion we decided to share our knowledge of what we have learned to create our own Guide to Gaming which communicates top tips for keeping our self and others safe online.

P3/4 Growth Mindset
Over the last few weeks P3/4 have been working on developing a growth mindset and learning how to use positive praise to help our own learning.
P3/4 have been building and strengthening our relationships within our class and together we worked as a team to build a whole class kindness chain.
Below the pupils had their second session with Jane which focused on using a traffic light system to identify different feelings and what things make them feel like that way.
P3/4 Time To Go Outside
P3/4 are becoming more confident in telling the time using both analogue and digital format.
Today we began to look at time intervals and explored what would happen if we added and subtracted specific amounts of time.
We explored this concept by playing a game of ‘what’s the time Mr Wolf’ but with a twist. Instead of calling out an o’clock time, we asked questions with time interval calculations. E.g What is 1 o’clock add 1 hour 30 mins.
We ended our lesson by reinforcing our knowledge of analogue time to create our own natural analogue clock.
