P3/4 Health Week- Day 3

P3/4 had another busy fun filled day with many learning new skills and trying out new activities for the first time.

This morning we started off with an energetic dance session which encouraged our creativity and inspired pupils to express themselves through dance.

Between break and lunch we had great fun developing our coordination and reactions skills needed for rounders with our Active Schools Coordinator Lynsey.

In the afternoon P3/4 tried some Golf with Miss Jaffrey and learned some skills for putting and chipping.

Miss Jaffrey was very impressed by the techniques and skills pupil’s had. We have a few golfers in the making.

P3/4 Health Week

P3/4 HWB- Begin Every Day With A Smile

P3/4 have been experiencing some new routines as part of our morning start to get ourselves ready to learn.

From the moment P3/4 walk into the class they are welcomed with mindfulness relaxing music and some individual selective mindfulness tasks they can complete.

As a class we are focused improving our mindset so that we are eager and ready to learn. Some activities that have helped us achieve this are doing construction team work tasks and doing whole class massage.

P3/4 Navigating Using a Compass

Today P3/4 applying their learned knowledge of  compass directions and mapping skills to create a map of our classroom and then use a compass to help navigate around the room to create a set of instructions.

In teams pupils first draw a map of the classroom including important features like a compass, obstacles and enter/exit points. Pupils enjoyed personalizing their map and adding in their own detail.

The next step was for pupils to map out a route from a starting point to a finishing point in the class which pupils would then actively follow using a compass and write down a set of instructions along the way.

P3/4 Literal Questions

Today P3/4 were learning how to identify and understand the meaning of a literal question.

Pupils used their own reading books to find evidence in the text to directly answer a set of reading comprehension questions. It also tested their understanding of the key features of a reading such as:

  • How to correctly use a contents page
  • Purpose of the Index and Glossary
  • Locating and identify the purpose of the blurb

As an early finisher pupils could reinforce their learner of their new spelling words using active literacy activities.
