After learning that over 3 million Anderson Shelters were built in the UK by the end of WW2, we decided to create our own model versions.
Working in pairs and trios, we planned our design together and started gathering materials that we might need from home. We looked at photographs and videos of Anderson Shelters from WW2 and used these for inspiration. We also researched the kit that was sent to families to build their own shelter in their garden. This included 6 curved corrugated panels and two end panels with a door.
Today we started making our models. Watch out for our next blog post with our final creations…
We enjoyed reading to our Primary 1 buddies this week. We read their Mobile Library book and we chose a book from the P1 library to read together. We also showed each other our classrooms.
We were delighted to have a visit from Lionel Lion when the author of the book came to read to the Primary 1s.
We are excited to reveal our P7 leaders on the Whole School Blog Post – watch this space for photos of our fabulous House and Vice Captains, Sports Captains, Eco Leader, JRSO leader, Digital Leader and Pupil Council Lead.
We spent time together as a class talking about what we wanted our classroom environment to feel like. How we wanted everyone to feel in class and what we felt was important to make our classroom a safe, happy and inclusive place to learn.
We then spent time choosing articles form the UNCRC that we thought were relevant to our classroom environment.
We chose a McDonalds theme for our Class Charter because we love McDonalds and felt it represented our fun class.
We designed and coloured our Rights Holders and Duty Bearer promises and signed our class charter.
We are happy with our finished display and we refer to it daily.
As we prepare our school House/ Vice Captains , we will be walking around our local area researching information about our house names on Tuesday 26th August
Please make sure you have returned all updated data forms to Mrs Stark before then.
