P7 Scottish Crafts
Gillian from our ECC kindly came along to our class today to help us make some “favours” for our Burns Supper. She kindly brought along her craft box from home and demonstrated how to make the thistle favour.
We are looking forward to giving these to our guests on Friday .

P7 Special Guest
We were delighted to welcome Mr Borland to class this week to hear him recite Tam O’Shanter and The Address to the Haggis. We loved listening to him perform and he then listened to our performances ahead of our Burns Supper on Friday. He was so impressed with us all and give us a couple of hints and tips to improve our performances.
We are looking forward to Mr Borland being one of the judges at our poetry competition next week.

P7 Scottish Showcase Information
As you know, Primary 7 are hosting the Scottish Showcase on Friday 30th January from 9.15 – 10.40am.
We have been very busy rehearsing for this morning and we are excited to perform at it.
As we are sitting at the top table we have decided to dress in a white shirt/polo shirt. We have plenty spare polo shirts and white shirts in class for anyone who does not have one. We will wear our usual uniform on the bottom half – unless you have a tartan skirt/ trousers that you would like to wear.
We have tartan sashes and ties in class that we will put on in the morning.
As we have a dress rehearsal on Thursday afternoon this week, it would be helpful to wear your Showcase Outfit on this day too.

P7 Working with our Buddies
We love working with our Primary 1 buddies. This week we have been helping them to log on to the Chromebooks and access their Sumdog Accounts.
We then invited them along to learn some Scottish Dances with us at PE.

P7 Scottish Showcase Preparations
Toast to the Laddies and Reply to the Laddies
We have really enjoyed learning about the traditions of a Burns Supper. We put our heads together to write a Toasts to our Lassies and a reply from the to the laddies. We look forward to reading these to our audience at our Burns Supper on Friday 30th January.

P7 Scottish Art
We have been learning about Robert Burns and his poem “My Luve’s like a Red Red Rose”.
This poem inspired us to draw and paint our own Red Roses and Thistles.

P7 Address to a Haggis
We have been exploring Scots language and translating the poem ‘Address tae a Haggis’ into modern English.
We are now preparing to recite this at our Burns Supper on Friday 30th January at the Scottish Showcase.

P7 Welcome Back!
Welcome back Primary 7 to a very exciting and busy term for us.
Firstly, a great big thank you for my very generous gift card everyone! It was a lovely surprise to come back to in January and I will look forward to a shopping trip to Silverburn this month!
I have added some photos from December to see lots of the fun activities that took place over the festive period!
This month we look forward to hosting the Burns Supper and Scottish Showcase and we are busy preparing for that day, learning poems and songs written by Robert Burns.
