P5/6 Update

Hi everyone!

P5/6 have been so busy since we returned after our holidays! I hope you all had a lovely rest.

Since returning, we have hit the ground running and it’s only going to get busier.

Sports Leaders – We are continuing with our Sports Leaders Awards and have been building on our skills to deliver an activity to our younger children. Our teamwork skills are improving and we have had excellent ideas on how to adapt the games to suit younger pupils. Next week, we will work with P1 and organise some activities for them. This will eventually lead to working closely with our ECC to help with their transition to primary.

Firework Safety – We had a visit from our local Firefighters to highlight the importance of keeping safe at this team of year, with a focus on Firework safety. P5/6 were an excellent audience.

Remembrance Day Display – We have been busy  creating some fabulous pieces of art which will be displayed on the ECC windows in time for the Remembrance Day Parade. Keep a look out on your way to school!

Homework – A huge well done to the effort P5/6 have put into completing homework this first week. It will take us a few weeks to get into a routine, but I am already very pleased with the uptake so far. Please take your time to complete and continue to enjoy family time.

Numeracy/Literacy – In Numeracy, we are developing our knowledge of multiplication and division facts. We are aiming to become Multiplication Masters! If you have any spare time at home, keep going with your learning – even if you’re saying your times tables on the way to swimming! Literacy – The weather has changed and it’s cosy at night – curl up with a book you enjoy reading and please tell me about it in class!

STEM/Outdoor Learning – We have been enjoying our STEM and Outdoor Learning activities over the last few weeks. Our latest build was creating a human sculpture out of pipe cleaners and straws. Wow – the concentration and dedication was intense. After a few attempts, most of us got the hang of it and were happy with our creations.

Garden – A special mention and thanks to our volunteers who very kindly gave up their own time on Sunday to give our school garden a clear up and makeover- it looks fantastic! Well done, everyone!

As the weeks go on, there will be a lot of  activities, themed days and Christmas events to look forward to. We will endeavour to update the blog as we go along, remembering it’s the most magical time of the year!

Thank you,

Mrs Reid

Term 1 ✅

What a busy 1st Term we have had!
From Committees, Bikeability & Sports Leaders, it certainly has flown by! There’s a lot to look forward to in Term 2. Here’s a few photos of what P5/6 have been involved in over the last few weeks.

September News

What a busy month September has been! P5/6 have made a positive start to the session and here are a few activities we have completed, which has helped make our learning environment brighter.

You have enjoyed using your pupil voice for Voted Fabulous! You always offer positive comments – well done!

Bikeability

P5 were involved in Bikeability Level 1 and I was delighted to hear how fabulous you were on the day. Please use these skills carefully, when you are out on your bikes. Bikeability Level 2 will be offered to P6 in Term 4.

Sports Leaders

Over the next few weeks, we will be involved in the Sports Leaders training on a Wednesday.

Homework

Spelling homework & Rigour Maths tasks have been uploaded to TEAMS for October. Here is a copy of the tasks, in case you prefer to access via the blog.

Photographic Permission

We are still waiting on a few parents completing the photographic permission. Once we have a completed list, I will begin to add photos.

Not long until our first proper holiday. Hard to believe that Term 1 is almost complete.

Homework W/B 22.9.26

Hi

Please find attached a copy of the spelling words we are focussing on in class. You know which spelling words you are working on. I have attached a 2 page grid with possible tasks to help widen your knowledge of the words. If you would like to complete your homework in a jotter, please ask and I will provide one. The same grid will be used for spelling over the next few months, so try and vary your task, so you don’t get fed up.  I won’t set a number of how many tasks to complete each week- that can be negotiated at home!

Here is a link to the PDF version in case the above pictures are not clear.

KS2-Spelling-Menu homework

There are also paper copies in class if access to the above is not clear.

Don’t forget there’s also Nessy  for homework.

Hand homework in when completed – families have busy lives.

Thank you

Mrs Reid

Welcome back!

Welcome back!

As we begin our year together, I would like to extend my thanks to parents, carers and the children themselves, for arriving on time and being ready for learning. Everyone looks super smart in their Fenwick uniform- let’s keep up these high standards!
Over  the next few weeks, we will focus on establishing routines and reinforcing our school values to support all children with their learning.
The children have been told when PE  days are- Wednesday and Friday. We are hoping to start this from next week. If the hall is unavailable and the weather is decent, this PE can take place outdoors.

I will be in class Monday – Thursday and Mrs Eccleston will be in Thursday and Friday.
As a school, we will arrange  opportunities for parents  to be involved in learning throughout the year and I look forward to meeting you all then.
I will keep you up to date with photos throughout the year to give you a snapshot of what your child is involved in, once everyone has completed photographic permission.
If you have any questions, please contact the main office.

Kind regards

Mrs Reid
