Welcome

The content on this blog looks at how ECC practitioners, P1 teachers and parents in East Ayrshire can work in partnership to support children with their mental wellbeing. It is not designed to look at specific mental health conditions but focuses on promoting positive mental health.

If you have good mental wellbeing, you can:

  • make the most of your potential
  • cope with life
  • play a full part in your family, workplace, community and among friends.

Mental wellbeing is important at all times of our lives. Children thrive in situations where they feel safe, secure and respected. Family, friends and the adults in our lives have a strong influence on mental wellbeing and shape habits and behaviours which can last a lifetime.

How we can achieve this is by taking time to talk – and listen – to our children and ask them how they are feeling and letting them say what they want to say will help. Showing them warmth, keeping them active and learning, letting them play with their friends and explore their local environment is also important.
