Muirkirk Primary School has embarked on a Reading Schools journey this session. This program aims to make reading for pleasure a focus in the school and promotes a love of reading. You can find out more about the program here:
Currently, we are aiming for our core award. We have a pupil leadership group that meets once every three weeks to assist with evaluating our plans and ensuring we are progressing towards our actions plan.
Already in the school we have scheduled DEER time (Drop Everything and Read) for 15 minutes each day after break time. On Fridays, we have a story swap where different teachers swap classes and read a selected book for the children.
