We will make another visit to St Joseph’s this term familiarising ourselves with our new friends and future learning environment.

P7 Learning.

Over the past two weeks primary 7 have explored  our thoughts and opinions focussing on  religion and science . First we looked at  the idea of ‘God in Nature’, we created art work to demonstrate this and have researched biblical stories which demonstrate a relationship between science and religion. We have enjoyed many thought provoking class discussions.

We continued on this theme by researching Charles Darwin and his ‘Theory of Evolution’. We researched, summarised, planned and created a formal report on his work. The children have massively enjoyed this topic and have been enthusiastic and engaged throughout.

“It’s been Brilliant” Gemma.

“Lots of interesting ideas” Isla.

Health and Well Being- Bullying

Primary 7 have been discussing bullying. We have talked about different forms of bullying, for example verbal and physical bullying. We have discussed what bullying is, ‘a repeated action over a sustained period of time, that cause fear, hurt and undesirable emotions for the person being bullied’.  We have discussed the difference between random naming calling or fall outs between friends and bullying. We are encouraging children to think before labelling events as bullying.

We have been talking about this in class and in our Assembly and are encouraging children to ensure they treat each other with kindness and respect. In addition we have reiterated the importance of reporting issues to an appropriate adult at the time the event occurs.

As a school we will continue to develop positive relationships and have open and honest discussion surrounding this subject.
