Primary 2 Wednesday 2nd December Teeth and Healthy Eating

Our topic this term has been about teeth and healthy eating. The children have been exploring the sugar content of  a variety of foods. At home choose some items from your food cupboard/fridge and put the items in order from least amount to largest amount of sugar. Do this without checking the labels and then look and see if you were correct.

Were you surprised by any of the items.

Below is an activity to test your knowledge of teeth and healthy eating.

Primary 2 Wednesday 2nd December Literacy

Wednesday 2nd December

Literacy

Remember to revise your tricky words and phoneme every day.

In class we have been exploring alliteration. This is when a sound is repeated. For example

She sells sea shells on the sea shore.

At home choose at least five objects and use alliteration to describe them. For example, a shoe, shiny shoe.

Then try some tongue twisters. Who can say them the best? Can you and your family come up with your own tongue twisters?

  • I scream, you scream, we all scream, for ice cream!
  • Peter Piper. Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.

If yesterday, you completed the time activity Fun in the park and the one-hour before and after clocks then today you can complete the activity below, this involves writing the time one hour before and after however today can you do it with half past times?

If you are in the smaller maths group then you can complete the activity ‘Tell the time: Writing the time.

Remember you can also use the My Maths website. (you have the login information at home)

Primary 1 Wednesday 2nd December 2020

Good morning boys and girls!  I hope you all have a lovely Wednesday.  Today’s tasks are listed below.

Literacy

Today is partner spelling day.  Ask an adult to write the spelling words (go & got) on a piece of paper.  They will read them to you and you will write them 3 times using the correct formations.  When you have finished and checked your words, swap over so that you are now the reader and checker.  Practice your sentences from Monday and Tuesday in the same way.

Click on the link above and watch the new sound ‘w.’   Trace the sound in the air, on the carpet, on your arm etc.  You are very good in class at thinking of where to write the sound!   Practice writing ‘w’ on paper.

Have a go at reading the words  below then circle the ‘w’ sound in each one.  Look for a ‘w’ at the beginning, middle or end of the words.

wet   we   new   owl   web   cow

Practice writing and saying the words.

Log in to Education City.  I have put some tasks in a yellow star with a purple background today.

Numeracy & Mathematics

Practice counting to 20 and back (or go further if you wish).  Write the numbers 0-20.   An adult will ask you to find the number before, after or between some of the numbers.

Today you are going to be pattern detectives!  Collect as many different shapes as you can from around your house or garden.

Can you use the shapes to make a pattern?

Can you name the shapes in your pattern?

What would the next three shapes in your pattern be?

P3a

Hello boys and girls,

We have had a very naughty visitor this morning who has been up to no good. He has stolen some chocolate and has been stuffing his face all morning!! What do you think this cheeky elf is called?

What would you like our cheeky class elf to be called? Send me your ideas because Mr Stewart would love to choose his favourite.

I wonder what mischief he will get up to tomorrow!!

P3a Home Learning Tuesday 1st December

Good morning! I hope you are all well and are managing to access your tasks. It was lovely to hear from you yesterday and to receive your work. Some of you even sent some photographs of what you were getting up to  and this put a huge smile on my face. It definitely wasn’t the same without all of your lovely faces.

Here is today’s home learning. Hope you all have a lovely day and I look forward to hearing from you!
