Week beginning 3rd October

This week we were introduced to the ‘wa’ phoneme.  This is a tricky sound as the ‘a’ actually sounds like an ‘o’, for example in the words wash and warm.  Each week we get to read a story that helps us to identify words with our focus phoneme and we love being able to use the highlighter tool on the board to show them.

We had great fun this morning taking part in all the fitness activities Ross had organised for our Sponsored Fitness Event.  We had the opportunity to work with P1 and P2 on the activities which was really good.  Hopefully we have raised lots of money for the school 🤞🏻

Week beginning 26th September

This week we have been introduced to our first new phoneme for P3:

We have been doing lots of different activities to help us learn this phoneme and words that start with it.

While half the class have been practising how to log on to Glow during ICT times, the other half have been completing technology challenges using the Lego.  One challenge involved us building something related to our Harvest topic, can you guess what we built?

The last few weeks…

Over the last few weeks we have been working very hard on a variety of different concepts within the class.

We have been using lots of different materials to help us understand place value in numbers up to 1000.

We have been revising the feelings we learned about in P2 through PATHS.

On Thursday 15th September it was International Dot Day.  This is a national day to encourage everyone to make their own mark on the world in any way they can.  We started by reading “The Dot” by Peter H. Reynolds then created our own art work, starting off with a dot, in the style of Wassily Kandinsky.

In French, we have been learning the numbers to 31 in order to be able to say the date every day we are at school.  We incorporated our understanding of colours in French to complete a listening and following instructions task where we had to write specific numbers in a specific colour.

Week beginning 29th August

Miss Hunter gives us a challenge to work on every morning while we are ordering the lunches.  This week she challenged us to put sets of numbers into order from the smallest to the biggest.

This week we have been revising the ou/ow phonemes.  We completed a read and draw activity using both of these sounds.

In ICT we have been using Dance Mat Typing on the computers to help us know where to find all the keys on the keyboard.  Hopefully this will make it easier when we have to type in our usernames and passwords on Glow.

Week beginning 22nd August

This week we started revising the 2D shapes that we know using the painting ‘Castle and Sun’ by the artist Paul Klee.  We then used the faces of 3D objects and the technique of printing to create our version of the painting.

Miss Hunter challenged us to sort our class library books.  After discussing the difference between fiction and non-fiction, each group sorted the books they were given into 2 piles.  We then had to sort the piles into size order to put in the class library neatly.

Welcome back

We are all loving being back at school after the summer holidays. We are settling into our new classroom and love the new rug which makes our room very bright. It also makes it more comfortable when we are working on the interactive board.
