Dalrymple P2 21-22

We have been busy this week getting ready for our Platinum Jubilee celebrations by making crowns that we can wear.

We also took part in the Big Spring Clean and did our bit to help keep our village free of litter.

On Friday we got to experience our first ever Sports Day and we all had a great time cheering everyone on and taking part ourselves.

We’ve had a very busy week undertaking lots of practical tasks to help with our learning.

In French we have been learning vocabulary for different animals and have enjoyed playing strip bingo and trying to mime the animals we have been learning for others to guess.

During our reading rotations we get the chance to consolidate our learning of lots of different concepts. We have used the magnetic phonemes to build words using the phonemes we have learned, we played bingo to revise  common words and played a game on the interactive whiteboard to turn singular nous into plurals.

We have been measuring the length of different things with Miss Fernie during numeracy.

This week we have been looking at how to use 2D shapes and 3D objects digitally to represent our ideas and create a picture.

We have started our learning on fractions, looking at how shapes can be divided into halves and quarters, how to write the symbol for a half and a quarter and discussing what the term ‘fraction’ actually means.

We have also been continuing our imaginative/creative writing, however this week focussing on a character rather than a setting.  We had some very interesting texts about the chosen character – an orca.

On Friday we celebrated World Earth Day and had a discussion about how we can help to look after our environment.
