Merry Christmas to all and a very happy and healthy New Year.

This week we learned about vowels and consonants. We had to find the missing vowel in words. We learned more about clocks and telling the time. We enjoyed completing jobs in our number workbooks. We put the Christmas tree up in the house corner and made different kinds of pictures of evergreen trees in winter.

This week we started learning the words and songs for our Christmas story. We used what we know about sounds to read words and play games. We enjoyed reading stories to each other using the pictures to help. We tried out different jobs in the role play area. We carried out some science experiments with water and ice.

This week, as well as our usual literacy and numeracy tasks, we were choosing the right types of shapes to build things with. We learned about what is safe and unsafe. We learned more about our community and people in it. We talked about the difference between ‘strangers’ and people in certain jobs who can help us.

This week we have been learning about people who help us. We made a doctor’s surgery in the role play area and looked at teeth with a special mirror. We have been learning about 3D shapes and building with them. We have made patterns and used instruction cards to build models.

This week we were learning about Divali and Guy Fawkes. We spent time exploring 3D and 2D shapes. We worked on improving computer skills and we relaxed in the home corner with friends.

This week we enjoyed lots more Hallowe’en activities including carving pumpkins, making potions, broomsticks and wands.

This week we started getting ready for Hallowe’en. We enjoyed Hallowe’en art and craft, songs and stories. We also tried different jigsaws and played sound games.

This week we have been …  learning more about Autumn, finding out about how trees change throughout the year, doing sponge printing, playing number games, practising letter formation, matching capital letters to lower case letters and much more.

This week we have …. told the three little pigs story in the puppet theatre, explored natural Autumn materials, looked for our favourite bit in a story, played games with numbers from 0 to 10 and 11 to 20, started working through a list of tasks, learned about the letter sounds s,a,t,p,I and n, made faces on a new computer game … and much, much more.
