Dean Park Residential Day 1

16/05/2022 by ealauren.wilson@glow | 2 Comments

Well we have had a very exciting first day.  After settling into our new home for the week and unpacking, we ventured out into the park with Howie (one of the rangers helping us this week) for some orienteering.  We managed to squeeze in a play at the park as well as some fun in the rain outside the castle!

Everyone was more than ready for lunch and a rest before our second activity of the day – pond dipping.

We enjoyed some free time before dinner and some of the children spent this either chilling in their rooms,  playing card games in the recreational area or outside in the courtyard  playing football.

Gillian (our catering lady) then made sure all tummies were full and the last bit of free time was spent unpacking properly and putting the sheets on our duvets (oh dear!) 😄

After dinner we went on our night walk and set some traps which we will explore tomorrow.  We are now having some chill time, showers and snacks before bed.   Everyone is having a fantastic time so far and after an exhausting but fun filled day we are all more than ready for a good rest.

STEM Challenge

Another challenge this afternoon for P7 to channel their inner imagination and creativity.

The first challenge, using the cubes, lolly sticks and cups they were given, was to build any structure that had a single cube as a base.  As discussed afterwards, this was quite tricky due to the area of the cube they had to build on.

The second challenge was slightly easier as it changed from a cube to one of the cups being the base of their structure.

05/10/20 Term 2 – We are learning…

Please have a look at our termly newsletter.  This gives a brief outline of the topics we will be covering within different areas of the curriculum.  We are excited to continue our John Muir topic, which involves conservation work within our local community and we will be starting our strings tuition this term too.    Please keep checking our blog for regular updates about our learning with pictures, videos and examples of work.
