Can you learn this Scots rhyme, try clapping along or doing some actions!

Today is Robert Burn’s birthday. He was a very famous poet from Alloway, Ayrshire who died a very long time ago in 1796 when he was 37 years old. Today we are celebrating his 262nd birthday. What a huge number that is.
Here are  some ideas on activities you could do to celebrate.

1. Draw a colourful birthday cake. How many candles can you fit on it?

2. Decorate some shortbread with icing pens to represent Rabbies kilt

3. Paint a kilt. In nursery we would use toy cars dipped in the paint and rolled over the paper to create the striped pattern

4. Make a Loch Ness monster. You could do a puppet style like in the picture or find other materials and get creative

5. Learn an interesting fact about robert burns to post in your journal

6. you could even research simple Scots poems and learn one. Record this and email to your keyworker eg wee Willie winky, ma wee rid motor

Have fun. We can’t wait to see what you do

Moon Sand Recipe

Ingredients:

• 4 cups all purpose flour
• 1/2 cup baby oil
• Few drops of essential oil (optional).
• You could also add food colouring or paint to add colour.

Mix everything together with a spoon or your hands. I found it a lot easier to control with my hands. If you need it to be a little more wet, just add more baby oil.
