Apologies

This blog has not been updated for a long time. There appears to be a local authority block preventing me accessing this at work but I’m finally back in.

Welcome Back!

So a new academic year begins.

If you would like to discuss your exam results for this or any subject, please see me before school any day next week.

Remember you need to be in class by 8.50 each day as there is no registration period now but I will be available from about 8.10 each morning for a one-to-one meeting.

Farewell S4

Those of you who sat your exam today may be leaving school for new jobs or new college courses and we wish you all the best.

There wil be Prize Giving as well in June. Those of you who will be in receipt of a prize will be informed individually.

For those of you who are returning, it looks as if Media will run in one column next year for some seniors at Intermediate 1 and Intermediate 2 levels.

It will also be running for S3-S4 at National 3/National 4.

Keep in touch! Missing you already!

Complete the Production questions and return the paper to Mr B. by Wednesday 22 May

Now, how to get ready for the Media exam on Monday 3rd of June

1          Look at your answers to the past paper analysis questions – look at my comments for what would have made it better.

The 3Cs are colour, camera work and character

The 3Ss are sound, special effects and sets (including props)

2          Complete the Production questions and return the paper to Mr B. by Wednesday 22 May by the latest so it can be returned to you on Thursday to help you to study.

3          Attend supported study on Thursday 23rd May in G:14  which will run from 9.00-11.00. It is advisable that you attend this to remind yourself of the perfect answers. No “time off” can make up for being talked through the process to give yourself the best chance.

4          Look at the blog at least twice a week.

Unseen Analysis

Those who have completed this already will have a reward period today (Friday)

Those who were absent will have to do this section of your exam under exam conditions as soon as possible.

Diegetic – non-diegetic?

Sound

If you can see the source of the sound on screen it is diegetic or natural sound even if it has been recorded later in the studio to filter out other noises.

If the sounds which have been added, such as music, are not being produced by something on the screen such as a radio then they are unnatural or non-diegetic.

Exam dates

The second prelim will be held on the week beginning Monday 18th of February.

You will need to have passed, or be very close to passing, at least one prelim to fall into this category.
