Weekly Round-Up

What a busy week we have had in Primary 2! We have been working so hard practising our lines and songs for our nativity which we have now recorded. We can’t wait for you all to see it!

We have also been busy learning to use a number line to subtract in maths, writing narrative stories, learning about the weather and making play dough. We have been reading the class novel ‘Stick Man’ and we watched the film this week as Ashton very kindly brought it in for us to see. Today we also had fun making our very own stick men.

We also wore our Christmas jumpers and enjoyed our Christmas lunch today. Thank you to the dinner ladies for making an amazing lunch for us all, it was absolutely delicious.

Paige was the class winner of the ‘Be Bright, Be Seen’  Award for her ‘bright hoodie’ design for the JRSO competition.  Great work Paige!

Here are our ‘Star of the Day’ awards for this week, well done everyone!

Please ensure book bags and numeracy scrapbooks are returned on Monday. There will be no homework issued next week.

It is our Christmas Party on Wednesday afternoon (15th December). Pupils should come to school dressed in their party clothes.

Have a great weekend!

Homework – Week beginning 6th December

Numeracy Homework

Pupils have been given a numeracy homework task to complete this week which has been added to their numeracy scrapbook in their book bag. This activity is all about 2D shapes, positional language and listening to instructions accurately. Pupils have been provided with coloured pens to complete the task.

Decorating a Christmas tree

This homework should be returned in book bags by/on Monday 13th December.

Nativity

Pupils should also continue to practise their lines for the nativity, if they have chosen to have a speaking part. They don’t need to know their lines off by heart, but if they do it’s an added bonus!

We are going to begin filming on Wednesday (8th December), so if your child has a Christmas jumper/accessories they can come to school wearing them for filming that day.

Thank you for your support.

Weekly Round-Up

A huge well done to all of the Primary 2’s for all the hard work and effort they put into their class talks this week. They all did an absolutely amazing job talking about their favourite animal and I really enjoyed listening to their talks.

This week we also celebrated St Andrew’s Day and learned about the story of our patron saint.

We have been learning to subtract in maths and have started reading our new class novel ‘Stick Man’. We also had great fun decorating the classroom for Christmas!

Here are our ‘Star of the Day’ awards for this week, well done everyone!

Primary 2 are going to be narrating our nativity video and those that want a speaking part have now been sent home with their words. Please practise these lines at home. All children will take part in our performance and we can’t wait to share it with you!

Have a great weekend.

Weekly Round-Up

It’s the end of yet another busy week in Primary 2!

The boys and girls have been working really hard on their number bonds in numeracy. In literacy we have been practising our sounds and creating some super pieces of writing.

We spent some time outside practising our ball skills this week and have also been learning about the weather. We have talked about the different seasons of the year and read the story ‘Little Raindrop’ to learn about the water cycle.  This morning we went outside and drew around the puddles and when we went back outside this afternoon, most of them had disappeared! We learned that this is called evaporation.

Here are our ‘Star of the Day’ awards for this week, great effort everyone!

I am looking forward to hearing all of the children’s talks next week. Please check the previous post for details of when your child will present their talk.

Please ensure all book bags are returned on Monday.

Have a great weekend.

Children in Need

Primary 2 finished off another busy week with a fun filled day of Children in Need activities. We started the day with a live Work It Out session with Joe Wicks, which was a great way to wake up our bodies and brains. We learned all about Children in Need and then took part in lots of fun activities. It was a great morning!

We finished off the day with a walk around the village to get some fresh air. We noticed that a lot of the leaves have now fallen off of the trees and we even spotted a few ladybirds.

Here are our ‘Star of the Day’ awards for this week, well done everyone!

Just a reminder that all book bags should be returned on Monday. Please ensure numeracy scrapbooks are also in the bags so that the next task can be added. Thank you.

Have a great weekend.

Homework – Week beginning 15th November

New reading books have been issued as well as a class talk homework project, which pupils take part in twice a year. Please find the details of the homework project below.

P2 Class Talk Homework Project

Title: My favourite animal

Pupils have been given a project to prepare and give a short talk about their favourite animal. Some ideas might be where they live, what they eat or what they look like but you can include anything. You can decide how you would like to present the talk i.e. poster, photographs, bringing in items from home etc.

Children should practise their talk at home in order to be able to fluently talk to the class, they might want to use notes on paper to help them remember their talk.

Talks should be ready to be heard for Monday 29th November.

I look forward to hearing all of your talks.

Please remember to return book bags on a Monday so that new reading books can be issued.

Weekly Round-Up

This week Primary 2 have been learning about Remembrance and why people wear poppies. We have made our own poppies which have been put up on display to remember all the soldiers who have fought and died for our country.

In maths we have been learning to use tens frames to add and to practise our number bonds. We have also been creating our own story characters in writing. Have a look to see what we have been getting up to!

Here are our ‘Star of the Day’ awards for this week, well done everyone!

Please remember that all book bags should be returned on Monday so that new reading books can be issued.

Have a great weekend!
