Primary 2 have had a fun filled week of Hallowe’en activities. Have a look at some of the things we have been getting up to.
Today was our Hallowe’en Fun Day. We had a lovely morning of Hallowe’en activities followed by a fantastic party with P1 in the afternoon. We danced, played party games and enjoyed some spooky activities in the P1 classroom. It was a great day!
Here are our Star of the Day awards for this week, well done everyone!
New reading books have been issued for homework this week. Please note that pupils will only be issued with a new reading book once the previous one has been returned.
Maths
This week pupils have been given a ‘Numbers challenge’ which has been added to their maths scrapbook. Pupils can complete the activity in any way they want – they might want to write, draw or even take pictures of the numbers they can find. Pictures can be sent to me in an e-mail. My address is: laura.mckenna@eastayrshire.org.uk
It would be great if you could let me know how you got on with the activity by filling out the family/child comments boxes at the bottom of the sheet. Did you enjoy doing the activity together and why? Did you find anything tricky? Was there something that your child did or said that really impressed you?
What a great start Primary 2 have had to term 2! This week we have been writing, music making, drawing, adding, building and being creative. We have been getting ready for Hallowe’en by decorating the classroom and making paper chains. We also made our own play dough and have had great fun using it in the classroom for literacy, numeracy and during our afternoon play activities.
This afternoon we went for a lovely walk around the village. We spotted a pumpkin in the square and collected lots of sticks for making magic wands next week. We also found lots of numbers and more signs of Autumn.
Here are our ‘Star of the Day’ awards for this week, well done everyone!
We are looking forward to a fun filled week of Hallowe’en activities next week.
P2 will be going for a walk around Catrine tomorrow afternoon (Friday 22nd October). It has been a bit chilly today, so please ensure your child comes to school wearing a suitable jacket and footwear to go on the walk.
Reminder
Any book bags that haven’t been returned yet should be brought into school tomorrow so that new reading books can be issued on Monday.
Primary 2 pupils enjoyed creating a ‘movie theatre’ in the classroom last week during their free play time. As an end of term treat, we will be having a movie afternoon on Friday. Pupils may bring in a small snack to eat while they watch the movie.
All pupils have been issued with a new reading book in their book bag today. Please ensure book bags are returned on Friday so that new reading books can be issued after the October holiday.
Maths
We have been learning about odd and even numbers in maths. Pupils can follow the link below to play a game to help identify odd and even numbers.
We are planning on going for a walk on Wednesday afternoon instead of Friday again this week as the weather is looking good. Please ensure your child comes to school wearing suitable footwear and a jacket to go on the walk.
This week Primary 2 have been learning about volcanoes. They have been finding out the answers to the questions they asked last week by watching videos, making volcanoes at the creation station and even carrying out a volcano experiment!
We have also spotted lots of rainbows in the sky this week. We learned about how a rainbow is formed and made our own rainbow puddles in the playground.
Have a look at some of the other things we have been getting up to.
Here are our ‘Star of the Day’ awards for this week, well done everyone!
Book Bags
A wee reminder that all book bags should be returned on a Friday so that pupils can be issued with a new reading book for the following week. Pupils will not be able to choose a new reading book until the previous book is returned.
Maths scrapbooks should also be returned each week for me to see any activities that have been completed. Pictures of any homework tasks can also be sent to me by e-mail. My address is laura.mckenna@eastayrshire.org.uk.
Thank you for your support.
