What is Inclusive Practice?
Inclusive Practice is an East Ayrshire initiative using dyslexia friendly and inclusive approaches. We aim to:
- Develop whole school awareness and responsibility.
- Foster inclusive learning environments.
- Use approaches which meet the needs and benefit all learners.
- Promote positive parent/carer partnership.

Dyslexia Awareness Week 31st October – 4th November
This week at Lochnorris we have been learning:
- What is dyslexia?
- What are some of the difficulties that come with having dyslexia?
- What are some of the strengths that come with having dyslexia?
- About some celebrities with dyslexia.
- The importance of spoken language skills.
- How dyslexia can impact self esteem.
- About growth mindset.
- About the Lochnorris Toolkit for Learning.
- Some helpful strategies for those with dyslexia.
On Wednesday of this week we had ‘no pens day Wednesday’. This was an exciting day of talking and listening activities to help us build spoken language skills for learning and life. Classes found other ways to share ideas without writing, such as: sign language, art, drama, music, games, construction and PE.
