Happy New Year to everyone. It was lovely to welcome P3 back after a well-earned break. I hope you all had a good time with friends and family.

Homework this week will be our Bug Club books and spelling using the ‘igh’ phoneme. It will also be good if you could practise your subtraction facts within 20.

Our new topic will be looking at Scotland and aspects of Scottish culture and traditions. We will be learning some poems, songs and reading traditional stories. The termly jigsaw will be posted soon.

Well done and thanks to everyone for the effort that went into last week’s poster challenge. The posters were excellent and the children are now experts on lots of different owls. I learned some new facts too!

This week we have reading, spelling (new spelling menu) and a numeracy worksheet to practise addition facts. Homework for Friday please but bring your reading book every day if you have a paper copy.

Wednesday will be a “no screen” day within the school and it would be good if we could do this at home too and give the technology a day off.

This week we have spelling as usual with three sentences please. There is also a sheet with smartphone spelling using the same words. Numeracy homework is fireworks place value. I have included a printed text from our shared novel. This can be read independently or shared with an adult.

Homework for this week will be;

spelling – read, cover, write and check, and then write 3 sentences using the words. There is also a spelling prices worksheet in the jotter which combines our words with money totals we have been learning in class.

Everyone has a new Bug Club book and some children also have a paper copy.

Homework returned by Friday please.

Homework for this week will be spelling, money worksheet and Bug Club reading. Please remember to write the spelling words twice at home (look, cover, write and check), then write at least 3 sentences and try something from the spelling menu.

If you have a paper copy of the book please bring it every day so that we can do some text related activities in class.
