4GM 2025 – 2026

TERM 1 & 2

We were measuring accurately today & using the ‘meniscus’ to help us.

We then used our measure skills to set up a seed experiment. We made predictions about what seeds we think will germinate best! We will find out next week if we are right!

As we were learning about the pharaohs and their beliefs, we learned that they place these Shabti models in their tomb so they can serve them in the afterlife.

After learning about the Egyptian Pharaohs including Cleopatra and Tutankhamen we created our own headdresses.

Happy Halloween!

We have been learning about the different types of Pyramids in class and used different materials to see if we could create any of them with jellytots and cocktail sticks, lego, K’nex, sugar cubes, linking cubes, plasticine and play-doh. Here are some of our creations! We made Step Pyramids, Red Pyramids, Bent Pyramids & Khafres Pyramids ( with sphinx).

Term 3

As part of our ‘learning lab’ with Glasgow Science Centre we have been learning about Outer Space, galaxy spirals, space travel and jobs in space.

One of these activities was learning more about the force that a rocket would need to launch. We launched a rocket in class using a vitamin C tablet and then borrowed a ‘rocket launcher’ from The Maidsafe Foundation (STEM Charity) to launch our rockets. Here are some of the photos that we managed to get! They were very fast!

We look forward to our visit to their planetarium on the 12th February! 🚀🔭

Over the past few weeks we have been learning about hygiene in the kitchen, taste and grating, peeling and chopping skills! Today we had a very busy morning practising everything we have learned preparing our vegetables and making coleslaw for our pitta bread pockets! We worked safely and know how to use the fork secure, bridge hold and claw grip to cut up vegetables as well as snipping with the kitchen scissors. Lots of us tried some new foods too which was great!

Our final food preparation activity was today! We used our skills to make Chunky Vegetable Soup! We enjoyed eating it in the afternoon with crusty bread. 🥖🍲
