Annanhill P2H 2023-2024Today we went a walk to see the Lady on the Wall mural on the side of the building on St Marnick’s Square. It was design and created by Tom Lightbody. He was chosen from many different people to create his image on the building.
It tells the story of Lady Ann Livingstone Boyd who lived in St Marnock’s house (now the car park) When her husband died she would take long walks in the gardens. This is her image.
During the week of Monday 5th Feb – Thursday 8th Feb we completed activities around the celebration of Chinese New Year.
We focussed on Internet Safety and looked at the magic words of ‘Stop, Think and Check’
We can identify special things to check online such as a lock at the bar, no chat bars etc.

RRS- article 16 and 17
P2 had a visit from Greta Yorke who shared her story ‘The Tartan Witch & the Highland Escapade’. She told us all about what it is like to be a real author, we thought it sounds like a lot of hard work yet great fun!
We have been learning all about Money. This covers coins we have to identify and sort into order. This week we had the chance to learn a bit about change. We will work on this in the next week too.
We have used a range of different activities to help us with money. It can be fun thinking of what we could buy with all the coins. We even got to see what coins Mrs Haggerty had in her purse.

In reading we will be learning about Non Fiction.
For our Numercay we will start to do our subtraction activities and link these to fact families.

We have started our new term and it is so good to be back.
In Numeracy we have started our block all about addition and subtraction. We have been doing lots of practical activities to help us with this.
Our new topic is….Toys. Where we will learn all about old toys and new toys.
On Tues 31/10 we visited Argyll House again. This time we had a Halloween theme

Welcome to P2H with Mrs Haggerty and Mrs Bell.
This term in maths, we will be looking at numbers to 100. We will discuss how numbers are all around us everywhere we look and the importance of numbers in our environment. We will look ar place value while practising our skills of sequencing, ordering largest and smallest, before and after.
In Literacy, we will follow the Active Literacy programme in class and learn a new phoneme each week. Our new phoneme is introduced on Monday’s and throughout the week the children will complete written and active tasks to practise their word lists.
We visited Argyll Nursing Home for the first time and began to make new friends.
Our topic was Dinosaurs and we did lots of creative tasks.
