Hello!!!

Welcome to blogs.glowscotland.org.uk – East Ayrshire. This is where you will find updates on what we have been up to in P2C. We look forward to showing you how busy we have been.

Term 1: Overview

P2-Termly-Overview-term-1-2024-2025

To finish off our dinosaur topic we had an exciting afternoon investigating poop! The children had to examine 3 different samples of poop to identify whether it was an omnivore, carnivore or herbivore.  Just look at their faces! 🙂

As we approach the end of Term 1 in P2C, we’re looking forward to sharing some highlights from our dinosaur topic.

In numeracy we have been learning about place value which has involved:

  • Sequencing numbers
  • Missing numbers
  • Counting in tens
  • Hundreds, tens and ones
  • Partitioning

The children have had lots of fun with the active numeracy 🙂

During literacy we started off the term looking at CVC and CVCC words that they would recognise from primary 1.

We have now moved on to our weekly phonemes.  P2C have been having lots of fun using the active literacy activties to help them learn their new phonemes. So far we have covered ‘sh’, ‘th’, ‘ch’, ‘wh’, ‘ng’ and ‘ph’.

In expressive arts, the children looked at the artist Roy Lichtenstein. Lichtenstein is known for his bold colours, comic strip aesthetic and the use of Ben-Day dots. We delved into his artistic ways by creating our own pop word art.

WOW is a pupil-led initiative where children self-report how they get to school every day using the interactive WOW Travel Tracker. If they travel sustainably (walk/wheel, cycle or scoot) once a week for a month, they get rewarded with a badge.  The children love taking part.
