The S2 English course covers a variety of texts such as novels, poetry, plays and extracts from longer pieces of writing. Using these texts, we encourage pupils to build on their existing literacy skills. Pupils will study a novel and drama script in-depth which further develops their textual analysis and close reading skills.

Whilst Reading for Gold and Accelerated Reader continues to be part of their S2 reading programme, pupils will also follow a media course which looks at advertising and the power of persuasion.

Pupils’ writing skills will continue to be developed as they follow a programme which practises functional, imaginative and personal writing.

As an ongoing process, pupils will be assessed on their talking and listening skills through various activities including individual and group presentations.
