The dates are as follows:
11th June
12th June.
On the 12th June,  we would like to invite 1 parent/ carer to come to school at 2pm to have the opportunity to see the classroom their child will be working in next session and have the opportunity to be introduced to the new class teacher. This is a general ‘bump up’ for children, parents/ carers; there will be no opportunity for individual discussions regarding children’s progress. As usual, class teachers will meeting throughout the month of June to pass on children’s plans and have in depth discussions about children’s progress.
Please contact the school office if you have any queries regarding these arrangements.

JRSO Parking Campaign

Over the last two weeks the JRSO group have been issuing parking tickets with the help of PC Rae who joined them to help make the parking around the school better and safer for all.  They designed the tickets to remind those who were parking in the wrong areas that first and foremost they were trying to make it the safest it could be.  The JRSOs would like to thank the parents for their co-operation in parking safely in the correct place. It makes it better for everyone in our community.

A HUGE Thank you!

A HUGE Thank you to all of the fabulous volunteers who came along and supported the school during World of Work Week this week.

This week has been very  full with many many volunteers coming into school and delivering inspirational world of work sessions.  Paramedics and Health professionals, Engineers and Games designers, Charities and Lifeboats.  The children have had a great time. This would not have been possible without the support of the community and the staff who co-ordinated it all.  Thank you.

The Children’s Champion – Hendrie Family Award

The Children’s Champion  – Hendrie Family Award
At a meeting in the Crown Inn Hall on the 6th of May 1864, the burgh of Galston was established by the householders of the town. One of the main proposers of this act, was a banker by the name of Mr John Hendrie. With this in mind the Hendrie family, who still live and work within the Galston area, have donated a fund for the establishment of a prize for the pupils of Galston Primary School. This is to encourage the children to promote Galston and help their fellow pupils and members of the community, wherever possible.
We are a Rights Respecting school in conjunction with members of the Hendrie family and staff in school we award a trophy at our annual prize giving in June.
The award is given to a child who has acted in a way that ensures one or more of the articles from the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child are promoted within the school and/or the wider community of Galston.
Children should be nominated by staff, House Captains and by community organisations using a simple nomination form. The nominations will then be considered by school staff and a representative of the Hendrie Family.
The Children’s Champion will receive the Hendrie Family Trophy.
We are looking for children who are or may have been an active member of a youth group or club and been a good ambassador. Alternatively, someone who has been involved in community initiatives ie a litter pick, gardening etc or someone who has helped and supported other children to feel included and safe.
Nomination forms are available from the school office or using the link below to access an electronic form.
We would encourage you to share this information as widely as possible and for you or any member of the community to make your nominations by Friday 6th June 2025

Sun Safe

As we continue to have hot sunny weather we would like to remind everyone of the sun safe message.  We would encourage children to use sunscreen and wear a sunhat and sunglasses, out of doors, whilst at school.  We remember it by using Slip, Slop, Slap, Wrap.

  • Slip on a shirt
  • Slop on sunscreen
  • Slap on a hat
  • Wrap on sunglasses.

That way we can protect our eyes and skin from damage.

Thank you for your help in keeping our children and young people safe.

Wildfire Risk.

Due to the spring up, plenty of old plant debris and high temperatures there is an increased chance of wildfires starting.

How can you help?

What we can do…

Follow our key tips to prevent wildfires in rural and semi-rural areas.

  • Avoid visiting vulnerable areas or those which have recently been subject to fires while the fire risk is high
  • If you see a fire in the countryside, however small,
    CALL 999 IMMEDIATELY.
  • Always follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
  • Do not discard lit cigarette ends – make sure they
    are completely extinguished.
  • Avoid lighting fires outdoors when high winds,
high temperatures and low humidity are present
    or predicted.
  • Report anyone acting irresponsibly or carelessly
    with fire in the countryside.
  • Talk to your children. Take time to explain the dangers of fire to them. Matches and lighters are tools, not toys.
  • If you need to call on an emergency service, they will need to find you quickly. Is your address visible from the main road? Are there clear access points to your property?
  • Have an escape plan. Ensure your family members know what to do and where to assemble. If you run a business in a rural area, make sure your staff members know the plan. Also, think about how you will round up and care for pets and domestic animals safely.
  • Remember – a wildfire can develop quickly. Don’t take chances.

Thank you for keeping us safe.
