Primary 6 Titanic Opportunity

Titanic School Trip – 24th April 2025
As part of their topic, primary 5 pupils are going to visit the Titanic museum in Belfast.
Due to the bus sizes we have approximately 15 spaces available that we can now offer to our primary 6 pupils. The cost of this trip is £80.
As spaces are limited the names of the pupils interested will be entered into a ballot. If you would like your child to be entered into the ballot please contact the school office no later than 1230pm on Friday 31st January.

Dress Down Day 31st January

On the last Friday of every month (unless advised by school) we have “Dress Down Day” for the pupils and staff. We ask for a donation to participate in this fun activity. The monies raised from Dress Down Day are used to purchase additional resources and treats for the pupils.. The recommended amount is £1 per pupil. We are now a cashless school and unfortunately we do not accept any cash in the school.  A payment item has been created on ParentPay  called Dress Down Day Donations where you can make your donations direct. You can also request a barcoded letter from the school office and use this to make donations for all Dress Down Days.
Thank you for your continued support.

Storm Eowyn

Weather Warning Update
The Met Office has issued a red warning for wind from 10am until 5pm on Friday 24 January.
Storm Eowyn will cause very dangerous conditions and there will be significant disruption.
The Council has taken the decision to close all schools and Early Childhood Centres.
This is a difficult decision to take and the Council understands the impact on parents and carers, however the safety of children and young people is paramount.

Titanic Museum Trip

Titanic Experience – Thursday 24th April 2025
We are arranging a trip to Belfast to take part in the Titanic Experience for all our Primary 5 pupils.  The trip will cost £80 per person and we will be travelling with Dodds Travel.  The trip has changed date from the original survey date after confirmation from Dodds Travel.
We will leave Galston Primary School at 9:00am and travel to Cairnryan by coach.  From Cairnryan we will get on the ferry and sail to Belfast, the sailing should take around 2 hours 15 mins and the children will eat their packed lunch (which they should bring with them) on the ferry.
When we arrive in Cairnryan we will then take part in a tour of the Titanic Exhibition and then also do a walking tour of Belfast.
We will leave Belfast at 7:30pm and sail to Cairnryan by ferry, with everyone receiving an evening meal on board the ferry on the way back.  We will then get the coach from Cairnryan back to Galston Primary School and should arrive back by 11:40pm.
The total cost is £80 which can be paid in instalments (minimum instalment is £5) and must be paid in full by 24th March 2025. Payments can be made using Parentpay.
We are also looking for parent helpers and due to the nature of the trip all parent helpers will also require to pay £80 too.  Any parent helpers should contact the school office and we can add the parent onto parentpay for payment.
