Micro:bit
Micro:bit from the BBC is a microcomputer that allows you to create and run your own code. The Mr Bit app from Insight allows younger children to programme the device in plain English without the need to learn code (only available for iPads; cost £1.99). Lego
Lego have a wide range of educational packs, but two that are particularly relevant to programming are WeDo for primary pupils and Mindstorms for secondary. Both allow pupils to build their own Lego robots which they can then programme using block style programming. Mindstorms also has the ability to be used for data logging.
