P2/3 Zoo Lab

The children really enjoyed watching, touching and hearing all the interesting facts about a tortoise, scorpion, tarantula and snake. What a brave lot!

The children really enjoyed creating their own models and working with their friends. Thanks to our P7 helpers, Paris, Brooke and  Mackenzie for all their hard work. Thanks also to our adult helpers Mrs Brown and Mrs Kennon. Look at some of the great designs!

Zoolab Visit

It’s been an exciting week at St Ninian’s! Following our Celebration Day on Wednesday, today we had Zoolab with us all day. All eight classes plus both Nursery classes had time touching, holding and learning about different animals. There was a lizard, boa constrictor, scorpion, tarantula and tortoise for us to learn about. Thank you to Zoolab for another great experience.

P7 Learn About Dementia

Today, P7 spent the afternoon with Emily and Sheila, final year student nurses, learning about dementia. They found out about what different parts of the brain do and that some parts can deteriorate. Later, they learned about what dementia can look and feel like. They tried on goggles to limit their vision and discovered how challenging a simple written task can be. They were given lumpy insoles to put in their shoes to give an uncomfortable, off-balance feeling as they walked. Finally, they tried to do simple things like fasten buttons and pick up things wearing large rubber gloves. We all developed a greater understanding and empathy for people who struggle with what seem like simple tasks. Thank you to Emily and Sheila for their time.
