Halloween treats

Primary 4 had great fun preparing and eating some Halloween themed foods.  One was a healthy option and one was more of a treat.  They created spider web iced biscuits and lychee and blueberry eyeballs.  Which do you think was the healthy option?  Would you eat an eyeball or a spider’s web?  Some of us were brave enough to give it a go!

P5 JEDI – Rights and Responsibilities

In Primary 5 we’ve been focusing on our school value, Responsibility. We recognised that each and every one of us has responsibilities in our lives.  We also realised that we have rights too! As it turns out rights and responsibilities go hand-in-hand. What better way to convey our learning than in song, complemented by the premiere of our very own music video! Ladies and gentlemen over to the P5, take it away Jedi…

Primary 6 Popcorn Party Election Day!

In Primary 6 we have been learning about elections and the government. As part of pour topic we have taken part in our own class election. We were split into groups and created our own political party to decide what activities we would do on the last day of term (today!)

We asked the whole school (and P6/7) from Lochside Primary to vote for their favourite party. The winners were the Popcorn Party.

Today we have had a great day filled with lots of fun activities. A drawing competition to draw our favourite movie character was held yesterday and Finlay was picked as winner with his design of SpongeBob Squarepants. Today we had a movie quiz and Kelvin was the winner with the most points!

The Popcorn Party managed to organise a fantastic day for us all and we all enjoyed some freshly made popcorn from Lia’s popcorn machine whilst watching a movie.

oh! And did we mention that we got to come to school in our pyjamas!?

Well done to all of the Primary 6 pupils for all of their hard work during this fantastic election!

P5 JEDI – Natural Disasters!

Click here to watch our Mexico Earthquake Video!

To access the video all you have to do is put in the password: P5JEDI  (tip: make sure it’s all in CAPS)

In Primary 5 we’ve been taking a great interest in recent natural disasters including hurricane Irma which hit Florida, Maria that hit Puerto Rico and even Ophelia which is coming our way! We also spent some time researching earthquakes and were shocked to find out about the earthquake that hit Mexico City. We wanted to find out more…

We thought of some questions we’d like to ask someone who has lived through an earthquake and then we video-recorded these questions. We then sent the video questions to the Humanitree School in Mexico City. We didn’t hear back for a little while which is understandable given they’ve just experienced an earthquake! However, this week they got back to us with their answers and sent some photos and videos through too. We thought we’d share them with everyone on the blog.

May the force be with you!

An Interesting Event Happened This Morning….

This week, we have been taking part in Walk to School Week. This is an initiative that encourages children to be more active on their way to school. Children can come to school on foot, scooter or skate as well as other options. One of the options is also ‘other’.

Skye in Primary 6 made it her mission to come to school in a very unusual way so that she could be included in this category.

The pupils, staff and parents were very surprised to see Skye arrive on

horseback this morning!

Well done Skye!

Jupiter Artland

Primary 7 enjoyed a fantastic day at Jupiter Artland. We spent the morning exploring the forest, finding the sculptures and sharing our interpretations of what they meant.

After lunch we created our own Jim Lambie inspired pieces, using layers of paper and creating a reflection-type look using foil.

Beat the Street Road Safety Walk

During our parliament time, the Road Safety group went a walk to the Beat the Street boxes in Lochside. We went to raise awareness of road safety and to find the safest route to walk for our school users. We decided that the safest route is to follow the path on the side that the Beat the Street boxes are on. We stopped lots of dangers along the way but we also identified lots of safety features which help to keep us safe. Look out for pictures of these things on our Road Safety wall.

Also please remember that we are running a Dr. Bike session tomorrow for P1-3 children and on Thursday for P4-7 children.

Shape Detectives!

Today the children from P1A went on a learning walk around the school to try and find different shapes that we have been learning about in Applied Maths. We focussed on identifying squares, rectangles, triangles and circles in everyday objects. We then discussed what the features of each shape are which helped us find some more!

All the children worked extremely hard and were able to succeed!

Well done P1A!

Mr Robison.
