Pattern

We have also been learning about patterns and what makes a repeating pattern. We have been using Duplo, beads, bears, pegs and the computer to complete and make our own repeating patterns. We still have a lot of work to do but have made a great start. Here are some of our patterns so far.

Welcome to Primary 1 2020-2021

Hello everyone and welcome to the Primary 1 class blog. The children and I will be posting photos and information on here as a way of sharing some of the work we have been doing in class.

The children have been settling in very well to Primary 1 and all the routines in class and around the school. We are very luck y to have an ipad in our classroom which the children can use to take photos of their work/creations to share with others. I have posted a selection of photos from the first few weeks including models, peg board pictures, pattern work and play doh creations. When I have all the consent forms in, I will post photos of the children as well as their work.

Please take the time to look through the class blog with your child so they can tell you all about what they have been learning.

World Book Day Fun

We had lots of fun for World Book Day. We started  the day with a school parade. After break, Primary 7 from St.Michael’s came to read to us and share the Pie Corbett version of the Little Red Hen. We performed it for our parents and grandparents at Soft Finish.

PE – Dance

Miss Rae has moved on to a block of Dance in our PE lessons. So far, we have been moving like different toys to the music. We came up with our own ideas which included robots, ballerinas, toy soldiers, cars and Sonic.

Teddy Bear Week

From Monday 10th to Friday 14th February, Primary 1 brought their teddies in to school to join in with their learning and also learn about the history of the teddy bear. They took part in number bonds during numeracy and writing about their week in literacy.  The children also built homes for toys. Some of the teddies stayed for a sleepover and were very well behaved at all times. On the Friday afternoon, the children and teddies enjoyed a Teddy Bears Picnic involving games, stories and treats. Earlier in the day, the class had made sandwiches to enjoy with their teddy. They chose from marmalade (like Paddington), honey (like Winnie the Pooh) or jam for their fillings. It was a busy yet fun week.

Primary 1 and 2 had great fun this morning making and tasting pancakes with Mrs Barnett and Mrs Woods. The children had a choice of toppings including sugar, lemon, jam, honey, syrup and chocolate spread. As the photos show, the children had lots of fun and said the pancakes tasted yummy!
