We learned about Scottish fishing and created some Paul Klee inspired fish etchings .
In Health we looked at food groups , healthy and less healthy foods , and challenged ourselves to make healthy snack swaps . P1 experimented with fruit and veg prints… when they were able to stop eating them! 🥦 🥕 🌽
Finally we had our partnership assembly and Ari won the P1 Extreme reading competition, and Hilib won Pupil of the week for excellent effort and concentration especially in Art. We are very proud of you both! 🌟
Welcome back to term 3 and a Happy New Year to all our pupils, families and the community.
It’s been so busy we haven’t managed a weekly posting, so there are plenty of pictures this week!
We have been learning all about water so far this term, and the temperature it freezes and boils at. We carried out salt and ice experiments and P1s enjoyed freeing the dinosaurs from the Ice Age!
We have also been learning about Scottish artists, and this week it was Steven Brown. P1 created tartan teddies and weaving patterns, while P3-7 recreated their own McCoos with embellishments and Scottish names.
In PE on Tuesdays we have started a block on hockey, which the children are working very hard in!
We have had a teams assembly online with our partner school Auchencairn, and we have launched the Reading for Life competition.
Ariadne was our award winner for last week and Isla brought in her pony riding trophy for most improved pony. Fantastic wider achievement!
Joseph in P1 also brought in a lovely jigsaw of animals which shared with us all to have a go.
This week has been all about Robert Burns and we dressed in tartan yesterday , then held our annual Scots poetry competition, this year at Barlochan . Well done to all who took part !
Our 1st place winner was Maddie P6, who took home the trophy
2nd place: Joseph P1
