On Monday, Auchencairn joined us here in Palnackie for a mini Olympic afternoon of potted sports. Pupils were split into mixed age groups and rotated around various activities such as rugby passing, parachute games, indoor curling and football dribbles . Everyone had a great time and demonstrated excellent sportsmanship .
Well done also to the winning team of the afternoon who all received certificates of merit. Thank you very much to the staff who helped at the event, as well as our four Dalbeattie High School sports leaders Olly, Ewan, Eva and Logan who supported at the various stations.
Auchencairn came to us this time for our first PE and forest sessions with our volunteer Karen and we had a great time learning about biodiversity .
Sports Day was a success and we managed to squeeze it in after some torrential rain! It was a bit windy but we all had fun.
Well done to our Junior winner April and our joint Senior winners Lachlan and Harris! And well done to everyone for being good sports and taking part. Thanks to Maddie for all her help with keeping Mrs Graham’s maths right when adding up the points!
House Cup winner…….will be announced at the Leavers’ Assembly on the last week of term!
We’ve alos been learning about meta skills and our focus this week has been on creativity. We demonstrated this on Welly Wednesday by creating a new seating area and fire pit for our future sessions.
Here is some artwork that the whole school has been working hard on. P1-3 have made the aliens in space and the P4-7 have drawn some of our own galaxies.
This is the art work done by Palnackie pupils and we also have sunlight pictures were we put flowers and leaves on a piece of paper and then rinsed it all under water for 5-10 minutes. On the sun and moon art we have used paint and white pen to do all the patterns!
Our new P1 Isabel came in to visit our school. She made a really nice rainbow and it is now up on the wall for people to see. We can’t wait to see her again!
The building blocks are for building structures, rockets and farms and other buildings and you can build whatever you want. These encourage us to be creative!
In Palnackie primary we have a reading chart. Every time an adult from home hears you read you get a tick. After your first twenty five ticks you get a bronze badge. Arri is now working towards our gold badge !
In Palnackie we started a new topic on space. The children have made some amazing astronauts and they learnt how to do fore – shortening. While p6/7 were away the rest of us did a food plate about what astronauts would eat in space.
