December roundup 20.12.24

Winter Weather December Clip Art

What a busy month here at Palnackie!

We have been out and about in the community this term visiting Barlochan to make wreaths and singing carols in Flounders cafe.

We also had our lovely parents in school to help make Christmas items to sell at the village fayre, and we had a super raffle to raise money for school funds. Wow!

P7 took part in the Stewartry curling competition and achieved 2nd place!! Great job!

We had our fantastic partnership Christmas concert with Auchencairn, and we were invited to 2 Christmas parties at Colvend and Auchencairn.

Although we have had lots of coughs and sniffles in school, we managed to make it to the end of term for a well earned break.

Merry Christmas to all our fantastic pupils, see you in 2025!

November roundup

November has flown by here at Palnackie Primary! The children have been busy with their History topic and were featured in the Galloway News ! 📰

They’ve also been busy rehearsing for the upcoming Christmas concert with Auchencairn , as well as joining them for Pink Day to raise money for extra cancer treatments to support patient wellbeing.
We’ve had award winners and 2 bronze reading badges handed out , and even a curling finalist certificate !
And finally a huge thanks to our fantastic parents who have spent two afternoons crafting with the children , for the village Christmas fayre .
Lots more to come in December so come back soon!

8.11.24

This week we have been very busy here in Palnackie . Our P1 pupil has  been working very hard on blending sounds to make words, we are so proud!

We had our first dance session with Shannon from Active Schools, which was great fun.

W also had a great visit to Dalbeattie Museum to start off our history topic- so many amazing artefacts and interesting things , especially the old toys ! 🧸

October roundup

It has been a spooky start to term 2 here at Palnackie with Halloween celebrations taking place in school. We dressed up and visited Barlochan to scare the residents and tell jokes. We also had a lovely party over in Auchencairn to round off the day.

We also had our first award winners of the week at the Partnership assembly, and a staggering 1200 House Points for Palnackie’s team Orcharton. WOW!!! Well done to all of our pupils for working so hard!

Lots of events coming up this term, mainly ……..CHRISTMAS!!! Or is it too early for the C word?!

Week 4 roundup 13.9.24

The children have been busy making use of the play zones in the classroom play area (aka the Play Room) and they decided to create a camp site . They also created jobs for everyone and at the end of the week we all discussed what we might like to have out in each zone for the coming week.

We have also had 2 fantastic pupils of the week for showing kindness to all and effort to focus on top tasks . We finished the week with another forest session focusing on foraging. We found apples , pears and brambles in our school  area and woods, then cooked them on the fire. A lovely end to the week !

September 2024

What a busy few weeks it has been here ! We have had Altogether Days at Auchencairn , started our new topic on Famous Fives and had Forest school sessions on Fridays. We have also  had a fantastic leaflet made by our Parent Council and we hope this will encourage more pupils to enroll.

It’s hard to believe that it’s Autumn already ! 🍂

Welcome back to school session 2024-2025!

Welcome back to our 5 amazing pupils here at Palnackie primary school. We’ve had a lovely few days settling in and getting used to the routines . We welcomed our new P1 pupil Isobel to our school and she was our very first Pupil of the Week!

We also made our new school code of conduct for the year ahead and thought about our similarities and differences in Circle Time.

It was lovely to see everyone looking happy and ready for the year ahead . Let’s do this!

Leavers Assembly and Awards 27.6.24

We had  a lovely assembly on Thursday with our prize giving and P7 Leavers’ memories . Everyone was awarded a trophy for their efforts over the years and we also sang a few special songs that the children chose themselves.

Our P7s also shared a PowerPoint that they had made themselves, sharing the highlights of their years in primary school. We loved their photos !

Thank you all for coming along and we wish our P7s Lachlan and Isla all the best at the high school, they will both be missed !

Bikability for P6/7

On Friday 21st June, our P6/7s completed their Levels 1 and 2 Bikability training with Dave and Stewart. They cycled along the main road and along to Orchardton Tower, then back to school. They learned how to wait until it is their turn to go on the road, hand signals for turning left and right, and looking behind them before turning.

Many thanks to Dave and Stewart for this fantastic training! 3 very tired pupils at the end of the day.
