The ‘Standard Primary’ Booklet
Bonjour! Guten Tag! Holá! Hàlo!
Welcome to the D&G Modern Languages Blog!
The main purpose of this Blog is to host electronic versions of a couple of booklets we have produced. There is a ‘Standard Primary’ and a ‘Standard Secondary’ version; each available to download, or just to view online.
They contain material which, we think, will be helpful to pupils and to parents/carers. They explain, in what we hope is an engaging way, amongst other things:
- Why we study foreign languages anyway
- What “1+2” is
- Acquiring Skills
- How to insert accented characters (à, é î ö…and so on), using various types of device
- Why various languages use accented characters
- Some key points to do with French pronunciation
- Grammar terms
- Skills and topics
- Dictionary skills
- Strategies for Learning
- …and so on, including a set of useful phrases in French, German, Spanish and Gaelic.
Each school, both Primary & Secondary, in D&G has been invited to put a link to this Blog on their Website or App; that way you can easily find the booklets whenever you need them. We hope that they will be useful to you in explaining the approach to Language Teaching and may help with homework tasks and the like.
A few print copies should be appearing in school reception areas soon, but, mainly, we are concentrating on the online versions. This contains costs and enables us to update and/or correct things as may prove necessary.
