A bio blitz is were you dig a hole 20cm and 30cm down to look for worms. When you find the worms you carefully wash them off in a tray with a little bit of water but try not to drown them!
Or if worms are not your stile you could look in a log or rock pile for little critters. It was very fun.
We decided to make some Christmas cards and decorations to sell as an enterprise for Christmas.
We made two different styles of cards and some decorations.
We made this card by panting old book pages green. Then we let them dry and when they are dry we ripped them into strips. We put different lengths of strips together in a tree shape and added a trunk and a star.
The second card was made by gluing together two paper circles of different colours and folding them into a tree shape. We then stuck them onto the card.
We made these gift tags for presents by cutting a bauble shape form bright and shiny paper and adding in the detail with black pen. These were sold in packs of five.
We also made peg decorations by painting pegs in different colours and adding on detail such at hats or scarves.
In early December we sold our cards, pegs and gift tags at the door of the school. They were quiet popular and we used the money we raised to buy Bluetooth speaker.
During altogether time with Palnackie and Colvend we do drama with Miss Bell. We have been learning about the plague in the middle ages and acting out events from history. It was interesting to learn how the plague started many many years ago, we all think it must have been scary with the deaths! The we have been learning lots of drama skills like co-operation with others, sharing ideas, acting out events and planning scenes together. We have enjoyed presenting our scenes to our peers and giving each other feedback.
On the 22nd of September we made soup with the with the vegetables that we grew in the school vegetable patch. (Look at our other blog post to find out more about that.)
We grew leeks, potatoes and carrots and decided to made leek and potato soup. We all worked together to wash, peel and chop the vegetables and then to add the ingredients to the soup maker.
Later on the parents came and tried some, we had it with tiger bread on the side. Everyone agreed it was delicious!
