This week with Caitlyn and Paul from Feis Rois we recorded our KGN radio show. The show has two Scots songs, Bananas are the Best and Three Craws, there are also two Gaelic songs, Shien O and Gillie beag. Some of the primary 7s were the presenters. they gave a weather report and the news. We even created our very own radio show jingle. The link to listen to the show will be sent to parents next week. We are all very excited for everyone to hear what we have been working on for the past few weeks.
On Tuesday P1-4 did part 2 of their science. We did not do the proper experiment but we will tell you how it went next week. But we did do our predictions we chose our materials and drew our diagram. This time we were seeing which material was the most waterproof.
For a warm up we all put on Velcro belts and tags apart from 2 catchers. They had to try and steal as many tags as possible.
We were focussing on team games where we had to work together to pass the ball backwards yet still trying to the other side.
The defenders at first were John and Mrs Miller, they were trying to stop us by getting our tags. It was challenging as we had to remember to stay ‘on side’ by keeping behind the ball.
Eventually Mrs Miller and John got a rest and each of the teams had to take turns being defenders and attackers. We are going to practise this on Friday with Mrs Miller and Mrs Magee.
We made tulip art out of paper on Tuesday 1st April with Mrs Harris. You can see from the pictures that we had to concentrate and listen to the instructions. Lots of skills were involved ~ cutting, folding, measuring, using a ruler to draw straight lines, drawing, and putting it all together to make a beautiful picture.
We think you’ll agree the finished product is beautiful and bright.
At Feis Rois we created a jingle for our radio show. Then we brainstormed our ideas of things to include in the broadcast. We had a vote and decided to include a weather report and some local news. Next we made them up and we will choose 8 people to present them. We are going to rehearse the reports and the songs next week.
On the 3rd of March it was world book day! We came to school in our pyjamas!
In the morning we did reading buddy’s for 25 minutes . After that we were split into groups of 4 or 5 and we did some book related activities. Nika showed us how to make book marks, with Ania we made books and Maisy did a treasure hunt. Anna’s activity was to create a character and with Isla and Harry we made an I movie.
In the afternoon we did a house challenge which was to design and make a board game with a book theme. Criffel made a board game linked to Three Little Pigs. Screel constructed a life size monopoly type game and Lotus did Jack and the Beanstalk snakes and ladders game.
The next day we finished them and enjoyed playing them. We gave each house feedback then a had a vote on our favourite. Lotus won and got 30 house points each.
This is our 2nd week of rugby. This week in rugby we played some games and learned how to pass backwards and how to stay on side. He told us we that have moved on 2 levels. We have done level 3 and are half way through level 4!
John is our rugby coach and he makes the lessons so much fun. We do rugby every Tuesday at 10:30am.
In the Purple Room as part of our science topic we were testing which fabric was the best insulator. We investigated which fabric kept the most heat in and which let the heat out.
We then had to find out who had the warmest jacket. It turned out that Leigh’s jacket was the warmest.
Yesterday P1-4 were making pancakes because it was Shrove Tuesday.
This is a Christian festival celebrated in many countries across the globe. It falls on the Tuesday before the beginning of Lent – a period of around six weeks leading up to Easter. During Lent, Christians give up luxuries to remember when Jesus went into the desert for 40 days to fast and pray. The exact date of Shrove Tuesday changes from year to year. But one thing stays the same — it’s always 47 days before Easter Sunday.
We used Lina’s recipe for making the pancakes. We enjoyed making the pancakes and choosing our own toppings. They were very yummy!!!
