On the 14th of October it was just a small class, us and Mrs Magee. We made some pumpkin art inspired by a Japanese artist called Yayoi Kusama who liked to use dots in her work. We used chalk pens to do the outline of the pumpkin and our finger to do the dots.

From Kirkgunzeon Primary
Altogether Time Health
Every Wednesday we have Altogether Time with Palnackie and Colvend, one of the things we do together is health and Mrs Graham from Palnackie teaches us. We are in three different groups, they are P1-2, P3-4 and P5-7. We are all learning about our feelings and how we can help ourselves and others when we are dealing with difficult situations. P1-2 are learning about a character called Zippy who helps them to understand their feelings. P3-4 are hearing stories about a character called Apple and they are learning about all the different feelings we have and how we can help each other when we have big difficult feelings. In P5-7 we do passport which is about emotions and dealing with them. Every week we get a page of comic and have to talk about it and we do tasks which help us understand our feelings. It is very good fun and we all look forward to reading the next comic.
All Together Time PE
At Altogether time we do PE with Miss Bell and Mrs Miller. We have been focusing on football. We have been practicing passing, shooting and control of the ball when we are moving. We have to keep an eye out for spaces to move into and teammates to pass to. When we are shooting we have to remember to stop the ball and aim carefully so that we can score a goal!
This P1/2 warming up in the hall.
Meet our New Primary Ones
We have 5 new P1 pupils at Kirkgunzeon Primary. The news group have interviewed the new P1’s to find out what they think of their new school.
The school dinners are going down well with all the new pupils. Isabella, Levi and Sophie all like the fish and chips on a Friday.
Agnes told us she likes learning new things. Nathaniel’s favourite thing to do is maths and Isabella enjoys playing with her friends. They do lots of activities including painting, building, drawing and learning their sounds. Playdough is very popular with them all.
We are pleased to report that all the new P1’s like being at school!
P1-4 Viking Topic
P4 have been making a power point about the Vikings. What they had to find out was where they came from, why they came to Scotland/England. While p2 made a poster. Also for the power point we have been researching about Viking home life, and learning about how they lived, who they lived with and what their houses were like.
We also looked at some Viking artefacts which were a cup a mask and a necklace. The cup was used to drink out of, the necklace what was for young people and finally the mask was used to scare away the ghosts.
Wellbeing Wednesday Reminder
Wellbeing Wednesday is every Wednesday of school term. Wellbeing Wednesday is a day where you are encouraged to bring in fruit or vegetables to school for snack. You can bring in up to 3 pieces of fruit or vegetable, but each piece of fruit or vegetable MUST be different. You get 5 house points for each piece of fruit or veg.
P1-4 SCIENCE
P1-4 have been doing some science . We were testing which things dissolve in water. We tested coffee grandalas , rice , flower salt, stock cube and cornflour .We learned that soluble means that it would dissolve and insoluble meant it wouldn’t dissolve.
Teddy in the Park the final one
On Monday we did the final part of our Teddy in the park. As you may know last week we wrote about our predictions. This week we carried out the investigation.
First we put different fabrics over a cup and put a rubber band around it to hold the fabric down. Then we squished 5 bits of water over each cup to see which one was the most waterproof. The one which leaked the most was not very waterproof.

This week with Caitlyn and Paul from Feis rois. We recorded our KGN radio show. Which has 2 Scots songs Bananas are the best, Three craws and 2 Gaelic songs Shien o, Gillie beag. The primary 7s even presented the weather and the news. We even created our very own radio show jingle. The link will be sent to parents next week. We are all very excited for everyone to hear what we have been working on over the past few weeks.
