Spring

It’s the first day of spring and our first lamb is due from the 18/03/21—25/03/21! If a lambs head is sticking out without the front legs it’s called a hung lamb but you have to push back the head and find the front legs and pull them out so then the head will come out with it! If the lamb is struggling to breath, you put a bit of straw up both sides of its nose and put your finger in it’s mouse and clean out the mucus! Some lambs have a natural birth! When a lamb isn’t well you stick it under the heat lamp.

Getting ready for lambing time!

At the weekend we cleaned out the lambing shed where the cows have been staying. First we got the digger and dad scooped up the muck with it ( It was a foot deep)! Next we got the tractor and scooped up the rest of the mud. We came back after lunch time and worked till 5.00pm! It was getting pitch black so we went home. The next morning me and dad came down early. Mum and Callum came at 10.30pm. It’s surprising how much we mist in the dark! We did the same we did on Saturday and worked till 2.30pm. Next week we will either spray the ground with disinfectant or use a powder called lime. I’m super excited for lambing time and will post a picture of the lambs when it’s spring.
