TAIP – Together Advancing Inclusive Practice

What is a “Together Advancing Inclusive Practice” package?

This is a mentoring model which focusses on existing good practice. Facilitators provide their specialist knowledge and tools to support practitioners to reflect on the needs of their setting. With the support of facilitators, practitioners identify what is working well and what can be enhanced to meet the needs of all learners.

This package can last approximately 8 weeks and involves a combination of observations, professional dialogue, collaborative problem solving, signposting, practical advice, coaching and role modelling.

The package is bespoke to the setting and topics covered will vary from one setting to another.

What you can expect from us:

  • A commitment to facilitating your journey
  • An informal pre-package visit, that includes an observation and professional dialogue
  • Identification of areas of good practice and areas for development
  • Between 2 and 4 on the floor coaching and role modelling sessions with staff within the working day
  • Observations, feedback and support to identify next steps
  • The sharing of resources and strategies to support practice and problem solving
  • Support to develop an Action plan
  • A revisit, to your setting, to observe your action plan in practice
  • Evaluation of participation and progress

What we expect from you:

  • An agreed commitment to engage in package
  • Implementation of action plan, within given timeframe
  • Proactive, positive attitude to implementing change
  • Engagement in collaborative working
  • Ensure that the identified next steps from the action plan can be seen in practice during the revisit

Feedback

How supportive did you find the project?

We think this was very good as they gave us a lot of ideas to improve our room . It was also good for a fresh pair of eyes. The lunchtime experience for the children was like night and day as the Ev’s supported us in changing the way the children had their lunch.

What impact did this have on your practice and setting?

It gave us more confidence to carry out the ideas the EV’s gave us, again they offered ides to put into our practice that now we have done and has been a big improvement for staff and children.

Positives from input?

Setting up of lunches have worked really well. Having signs up at sinks to show children how to wash hands, bell to say snack is open and hand on heads to help children understand there is a transition happening.
