Our Nativity this year was called ‘The Fleece Force’. We preformed our nativity at the church as part of our Christmas Service, which also included carols and the P5-7 playing Jingle Bells on the Glockenspiels.

Today P3/4 were visited by Hagar the Viking for a Viking Workshop. This session was funded by our parent council (A huge thank you from us all).
We learnt about Viking clothing, food and their gods. We dressed up as Viking and played a Viking game called Molkky. We re-enacted Viking marriages, wearing horned helmets which were only used for important ceremonies. We also re-enacted Viking battles as vikings were also know as raiders and pirates.
Following our session we were presented with a Young Viking Historian Award Certificate.
Today we were visited by Roger Hill from the charity DH9 Foundation to donate a defibrillator to our school in partnership with the Wee Emma’s Defib Campaign. They have donated defibrillators to all primary school in Dumfries and the surrounding area, as well as all secondary school in Dumfries and Galloway.

On the 29th of November my school had family fun night. I had a great time and I also ran a stall. We also sang Scottish songs and in the end we raised over £500 pounds. Lots of people came. My stall raised £48 and I loved it.
We are doing well in our IDL topic and have been learning about Viking’s clothing and burials.
Whilst we were going to Kielder Forest on holiday I stopped by the Rock UK with my family. We saw a zip line down from a big hill and the lodges. It looked great!
Primary 1/2 and Primary 3/4 were fortunate to have a visit from the author Chae Strathie. He is well know for writing: Gorilla Love Vanilla, Dear Dinosaur, Jumblebum and many more.
He read us both Dear Dinosaur and Gorilla Loves Vanilla. We created our own dinosaur made out of food and a Ice Cream Sundae made of many unusual ingredients. Chae also sang a song about wiggly worms.
Everyone had a great time!
Today P3/4 visited Lakehead Farm in Closeburn with RHET. We have been learning about technology in the workplace. Sam, Jess and Amy showed us around the farm. They showed us technology they use to assist with looking after the cows.
Today we held a coffee afternoon and baking competition to raise money for Children in Need.
3 Fridays ago, the whole school did a STEAM challenge for a roller coaster made out of artstraws, a paper cup, a ping-pong ball, sellotape, cardboard and scissors. (It won’t let me insert the image of it, sorry)
My group had finished our’s first so Me and Cameron made something out of the spare bits, meanwhile the rest of our group decided to colour in the base of the roller coaster.
In the end we all had a pretty good roller coaster, as well as a really good miniature village which Me and Cameron had made out of the spares.
I loved our little roller coaster, but now it is packed away, probably crushed by the other ones 🙁 .
Thanks for reading! 😀
